How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Bicknacre / Danbury, Essex
    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Qualification: Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification required

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join a welcoming and forward-thinking early years setting based across two community-focused sites in Bicknacre and Danbury.

This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, passionate and inspiring early years professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the leadership and development of the nursery.

As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will work closely with the management team to ensure the highest standards of childcare, education, safeguarding and wellbeing are consistently delivered. You will be an influential role model for the wider team, helping to develop and elevate teaching practice across the setting.

The nursery has a strong focus on creating an engaging, nurturing and child-led learning environment. Their approach is inspired by curiosity, Hygge, loose-parts play, forest-led learning and Montessori principles, alongside a strong focus on preparing children for a successful transition into school.

    Key Responsibilities:

Support the Nursery Manager with the effective day-to-day running of the setting
Lead, motivate and support a team of Early Years practitioners
Maintain consistently high standards of childcare, education, safeguarding and wellbeing
Act as a positive role model and promote excellent practice throughout the nursery
Support the planning and delivery of an engaging, child-centred curriculum
Promote a culture of curiosity, exploration and independence
Help develop and embed innovative teaching and learning practices
Support the delivery of a strong school-readiness programme
Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues
Ensure the setting remains compliant with EYFS, safeguarding and regulatory requirements
Assist with staff development, mentoring and performance management
Contribute to observations, assessments and children's individual learning journeys
Support the management team with policies, procedures and continuous improvement
Take responsibility for the setting in the absence of the Nursery Manager when required
    The Ideal Candidate:

Holds a minimum Level 3 childcare / Early Years qualification
Has previous nursery management or senior leadership experience
Has strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
Has a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Is confident leading, motivating and developing a team
Is highly organised with excellent communication skills
Is passionate about delivering outstanding outcomes for children
Can demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making skills
Has a creative and forward-thinking approach to early years practice
Is committed to creating a warm, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
Takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional who is looking to join a nurturing setting where they can make a genuine impact on children, families and the wider team.

If you are an experienced Nursery Practitioner, Room Leader, Deputy Manager or Senior Early Years professional looking to progress your career, we would love to hear from you.
