How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Skilled Careers are currently working with an award-winning, design-led structural engineering consultancy in the West End of London who are looking to add a Graduate Structural Engineer (+1) to their growing team.

Based close to Tottenham Court Road, the consultancy has recently moved into a brand-new office, making this an exciting time to join a business that is continuing to grow.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Structural Engineer who is still relatively early in their career and is looking to develop their technical experience within a genuinely design-focused environment. The consultancy works closely with architects and other design professionals, delivering bespoke structural solutions across a variety of architecturally led projects.

    The Company

The practice brings together significant technical expertise, practical knowledge and experience gained from leading design-focused practices across the UK and Europe.

Working as part of a multi-national and multi-lingual team, the consultancy uses the latest analysis and design software to deliver bespoke, efficient structural solutions across projects of varying scale and complexity.

    Their current portfolio includes:

Residential developments, including new-build, contemporary refurbishment and basement projects

    Commercial developments

    Mixed-use schemes

    Hotels & resorts

    Offices and retail

    Education projects

This is an excellent environment for someone who wants exposure to interesting, architecturally led schemes rather than working on repetitive projects.

    The Role

As a Graduate Structural Engineer (+1), you will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced technical team and gain exposure to projects from early design stages through to delivery.

The role would suit someone who is technically minded, keen to learn and wants to develop their career within a collaborative consultancy environment.

You will have the opportunity to:

Work on a varied portfolio of architecturally led projects

Develop your structural design experience across a range of sectors

Work closely with architects and other members of the design team

Gain experience across different project stages

Develop your understanding of both technical design and project delivery

Work alongside experienced structural engineers and learn from a strong technical team

Continue working towards professional development and eventual chartership

    Benefits

The consultancy offers a particularly strong benefits package, including:

Hybrid working – 3 days in the office after successful completion of the initial probation period

    Opportunity to work from abroad

Flexible working hours, with core hours of 09:30–17:00

Annual bonus based on company and individual performance

    Benenden private healthcare

    Company mobile phone

    Training course allowance

    Professional subscriptions paid for

    Chartership exam fees paid

    Cycle to Work scheme

    Cycle parking and showers

    Free eye tests

    Free lunches during CPD sessions

Fresh fruit in the office every week

Frequent company socials and an active social committee

Discretionary annual company trips abroad – previous destinations have included Lisbon, Sofia, Budapest, Krakow and Bilbao

    Who Are They Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a Graduate Structural Engineer or Structural Engineer with around 1+ years' experience who is looking to take the next step in their development.

    You should have:

A relevant degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

Some relevant structural engineering experience, either through graduate employment or internships/placements

A genuine interest in structural design

Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

A desire to work on architecturally led and design-focused projects

A willingness to learn and develop technically

    Interested

If you're a Graduate Structural Engineer or Structural Engineer with around a year of experience and are interested in finding out more, Skilled Careers would be happy to have a confidential conversation with you.

Even if you're not actively looking, this could be a great opportunity to understand what the market has to offer and see whether the role and company could be the right fit for your next career move
