How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Architectural Technologist

    Location: London or Leeds
    Working: Hybrid
    Salary: 45-55K
    Type: Permanent

    The Opportunity

We are working on behalf of an established architectural practice of approximately 25 people who are looking to appoint an experienced Architectural Technologist to join their team.

The practice has a strong and growing portfolio of justice and public-sector projects, including prisons, courts and other secure/public buildings. Much of their current workload involves refurbishment, fire safety, compliance and technical improvement works within live environments, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technically challenging projects with real-world constraints.

The successful candidate will take ownership of projects through the later RIBA stages, with a particular focus on RIBA Stages 3, 4 and 5, overseeing technical delivery and working with a high degree of autonomy.

    The Role

You will be involved in the technical delivery of a range of justice-sector projects, from refurbishment and compliance works through to larger-scale improvement programmes.

You will be expected to take ownership of projects, manage technical information and coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered effectively and to the required standards.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Taking responsibility for the technical delivery of projects across RIBA Stages 3–5.

    * Developing and coordinating detailed design and construction information.

    * Producing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications and project information.

    * Working across refurbishment, fire safety and compliance-led projects.

    * Coordinating with multidisciplinary consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.

    * Managing technical issues and resolving design and construction challenges.

    * Working within live public-sector environments, where careful planning, compliance and communication are essential.

    * Taking ownership of project packages and, where appropriate, running projects with a high level of autonomy.

    * Supporting projects through construction and responding to technical queries as they arise.

    * Ensuring designs and technical information meet relevant regulations, standards and client requirements.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced Architectural Technologist with strong technical delivery skills and a proven ability to take ownership of projects.

    You will ideally have:

    * Professional experience within an architectural practice.

    * Strong experience delivering projects through RIBA Stages 3, 4 and 5.

    * Excellent knowledge of technical design and construction detailing.

    * Strong Revit skills.

    * Experience working on refurbishment, retrofit, compliance or technically complex projects.

    * The ability to coordinate projects and work confidently with consultants and contractors.

    * A good understanding of UK Building Regulations and relevant technical standards.

    * The confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of your projects.

    * Strong communication and organisational skills.

Experience within justice, public-sector, healthcare, education, custodial or other highly regulated environments would be particularly beneficial, although relevant technical experience from other sectors will also be considered.

    Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a close-knit practice where you can have genuine ownership of your work and play a key role in the technical delivery of a specialist project portfolio.

    The practice offers:

    * Hybrid working.

    * A varied portfolio of technically challenging projects.

    * The opportunity to work on high-profile justice and public-sector buildings.

    * Significant involvement across RIBA Stages 3–5.

    * A high level of autonomy and responsibility.

    * The opportunity to develop your project-running and technical leadership experience.

    * A collaborative team environment within an established practice of around 25 people.

If you are a technically strong Architectural Technologist looking for a role where you can run projects, take ownership and work on challenging refurbishment and compliance projects within the justice sector, we would be keen to hear from you
