How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Project Manager

    Contract Type: Contract, Inside IR35
    Duration: 6 months ongoing
    Location: Wallasey, office based
    Pay Rate: £530 - £560 per day DOE
    Start Date: ASAP
    Hours: Full Time

    About the Role

    We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to support the delivery of mechanical building services and infrastructure projects.

    This is a heavy industrial and infrastructure-focused role, working across complex operational and transport assets. Candidates must have experience delivering mechanical projects within heavy industrial, infrastructure, rail, civil engineering, tunnels, transport, utilities or similar environments.

    You will be responsible for managing mechanical projects from initial scoping and design through to site delivery and completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with operational requirements.

    The successful candidate will need to be able to hit the ground running, taking ownership of projects with minimal training or supervision.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage mechanical building services and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
    Develop project scopes, technical briefs and specifications.
    Review technical designs, surveys and engineering reports.
    Manage mechanical works including heating, ventilation, cooling, pumps, pipework, water systems, fuel systems and associated plant.
    Oversee plant replacement, refurbishment and lifecycle replacement projects.
    Coordinate consultants, contractors, surveys and site-based delivery teams.
    Manage project budgets, costs, programmes and risks.
    Ensure projects comply with relevant statutory, regulatory and health & safety requirements.
    Coordinate works within complex, live and safety-critical operational environments.
    Ensure solutions are maintainable, energy efficient and aligned with operational requirements.
    Support energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives across the estate.
    Manage stakeholder relationships across internal teams, consultants, contractors and local authority representatives.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with strong mechanical building services and infrastructure experience who can make an immediate impact.

    You will need to have the technical knowledge and project management experience to take ownership from day one.

    Essential requirements:

    Proven experience delivering mechanical projects within building services, infrastructure or operational environments.
    Previous experience working with or within local authorities is essential.
    Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    Strong understanding of mechanical building services and associated infrastructure.
    Experience across areas such as heating, ventilation, cooling, pumps, pipework, water systems, fuel systems and plant replacement/refurbishment.
    Knowledge of statutory compliance, planned maintenance and lifecycle replacement.
    Experience delivering projects focused on energy efficiency and/or decarbonisation.
    Strong contractor and consultant management experience.
    Proven experience managing project costs, programmes, risks and delivery.
    Experience working within live, complex and safety-critical environments.
    Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    Ability to work independently and hit the ground running.
    Must be willing and able to commute to the Wallasey office 4 days per week.
