A long‑established, growing and successful roofing contractor with over 45 years’ experience is looking for a Trainee Estimator / Surveyor to join its expanding pre‑construction and commercial team. The business delivers commercial and industrial roofing projects nationwide and has a full order book just two months into their financial year, offering a friendly, supportive and down‑to‑earth working environment with excellent long‑term progression.
The Role – Trainee Estimator / Surveyor
This is an office and site‑based training role covering both estimating and surveying. You’ll support tenders, pricing, measurements, progress verification and commercial reporting across refurbishment and flat roofing schemes valued between £50k and £3m. Site visits are typically within a manageable travel range, with the furthest points usually being London to the south and Leeds to the north.
What You Will Be Doing
* Supporting quantity take‑offs, measurements and site surveys
* Helping prepare tender documents, pricing schedules and cost plans
* Requesting and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations
* Assisting with scope summaries, clarifications and value engineering options
* Visiting sites to record progress, verify quantities and support variations
* Working on roofing and refurbishment tenders across Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial and Public Sector projects
* Supporting procurement, issuing enquiries and updating commercial trackers
* Maintaining organised drawings, schedules and commercial documentation

Who This Suits

* Strong Maths skills and good IT ability (including basic Excel)
* Ideally some Estimating or Surveying experience, OR:
* Studying or holding a construction‑related qualification (BTEC, HNC, HND, T Level, apprenticeship)
* Some practical construction experience
* Looking for a long‑term career with progression
* A stable CV is preferred
Hours & Location
* Full‑time role based in Corby, with regular site visits
* Monday–Thursday: 08:30–17:00
* Friday: 08:30–16:00
* 1‑hour lunch break
