How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Ready to take the lead in a thriving plant production business and shape its future?

We're recruiting on behalf of a highly respected horticultural business in Cornwall seeking a Plant Production Manager to take ownership of its growing operation during an exciting period of succession and development.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a well-established business with a reputation for quality, innovation, and technical excellence. You'll work closely with senior leadership while leading an experienced nursery team and taking full responsibility for plant production, agronomy, and crop quality.

For the right person, this offers much more than a management role. It's a chance to become a key figure within the business, influence future growing strategies, and make a lasting impact on the next generation of production.

    Why Apply?

Take ownership of an established and successful plant production operation
Join a business with a clear long-term vision and commitment to innovation
Play a key role in shaping future growing practices and production systems
Relocation support available, including a family cottage near the farm
Genuine opportunity for professional growth and long-term career development
Enjoy the lifestyle benefits of living and working in Cornwall
Competitive salary package, negotiable depending on experience

    The Opportunity

As Plant Production Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall management of growing operations, overseeing everything from agronomy and crop health through to labour planning and customer engagement.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend significant time on the nursery, monitoring crops, making key growing decisions, and supporting your team to deliver consistently high-quality plants.

You'll combine technical expertise with people leadership, helping ensure the business continues to produce outstanding crops while embracing new technologies, practices, and opportunities for improvement.

    About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical growing knowledge with excellent people management and communication skills.

    You'll ideally bring:

    Strong agronomy and horticultural knowledge
Experience in plant propagation, nursery production, or vegetable plant production
A proven ability to identify and resolve crop health issues quickly
Previous experience managing teams within a commercial growing environment
    Excellent organisational and decision-making skills
Confidence communicating with customers and stakeholders
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

    Desirable Qualifications

Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related discipline
    FACTS and/or BASIS qualifications
Experience within commercial propagation, vegetable plants, or protected cropping environments

    What's On Offer?

    Salary: Circa £50,000

    In addition, you'll benefit from:

Cottage available close to the business
Relocation support for those moving to Cornwall
    Ongoing training and professional development
    Apply Today

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced grower or production professional looking to take the next step in their career.

If you're passionate about crop production, enjoy leading teams, and want the chance to influence the future of a successful horticultural business, we'd love to hear from you.
