How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Conrad Consulting are delighted to be working with a highly regarded property and building consultancy to recruit a Chartered Building Surveyor to join their growing team in Essex.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MRICS Building Surveyor to work on a varied portfolio of education-sector projects, providing professional building surveying advice to clients across the region.

    The Role

    You will be involved in a broad range of building surveying instructions, with a particular focus on education projects. Your responsibilities will include:

    Building surveys and condition assessments

    Planned maintenance and lifecycle advice

    Preparation of specifications and schedules of work

    Contract administration and project management

    Defect diagnosis and technical reporting

    Monitoring refurbishment and improvement works

    Providing professional advice to education-sector clients

    Managing client relationships and developing new business opportunities

    About You

    We are looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with strong technical knowledge and experience across a range of building surveying disciplines.

    You should have:

    MRICS qualification

    Previous experience working within a building surveying consultancy

    Strong knowledge of building pathology and construction

    Experience delivering projects from inception through to completion

    Experience of contract administration and project management

    Excellent communication and client-facing skills

    A genuine interest in working within the education sector

    Experience working on schools, colleges, universities or other public-sector estates would be particularly advantageous.
