How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Role:

    Silcom Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded automotive dealership based in the outskirts of Southampton. Our client is seeking an experienced Service Advisor to join their busy and customer-focused aftersales team.

    Operating from an established franchised dealership, the business provides new and used vehicle sales alongside servicing, maintenance and aftersales support.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and professional Service Advisor to join a reputable automotive business and become an integral part of a busy aftersales operation.

    Working closely with customers, technicians and the wider workshop team, you will be responsible for ensuring customers receive a smooth, transparent and professional experience throughout their vehicle's service, MOT or repair journey.

    Responsibilities of a Service Advisor:

    Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout their vehicle's service, MOT or repair journey.

    Book customer vehicles into the workshop and manage service appointments efficiently.

    Welcome customers to the dealership and establish their servicing and maintenance requirements.

    Liaise closely with technicians, workshop controllers and other aftersales colleagues to ensure work progresses efficiently.

    Keep customers regularly updated on the progress of their vehicle.

    Provide clear and accurate estimates for servicing, maintenance and repair work.

    Communicate any additional work identified by the workshop and obtain customer authorisation before proceeding.

    Prepare invoices and clearly explain completed work and associated costs when customers collect their vehicles.

    Promote additional products, servicing requirements and maintenance work where appropriate.

    Manage customer expectations effectively and resolve queries in a professional manner.

    Maintain accurate customer and vehicle records.

    Ensure a consistently high standard of customer service from initial booking through to vehicle collection.

    Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, technicians and colleagues across the dealership.

    Support the wider aftersales department in achieving customer satisfaction and departmental targets.

    The Package:

    Salary: £30,000 Basic + bonus - £39,000 OTE!

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 18:00pm – 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 08:30am-12:30pm with a half day Friday in return!
