How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commercial Fit Out Estimator

    Location:

    West Yorkshire

    Salary:

    £40k - £45k

    Hours:

    7:30 am - 5 pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a successful and well-established shopfitting and bespoke joinery business. This is a key role within an experienced and stable team, created through internal progression.

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator with a background in joinery, shopfitting or commercial fit-out, who understands how projects are manufactured, costed and delivered. If you’re commercially driven, technically confident and ready to take your career to the next level, this is an opportunity to become a valued part of a business where people build long-term careers.

    The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and commercially competitive estimates for a wide variety of bespoke shopfitting, joinery and interior projects.

You will work from initial client enquiries, drawings and specifications, developing detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, manufacturing, subcontractors, specialist trades, delivery and installation.

The role will require someone who can look beyond simply pricing drawings and specifications. You will need to understand how a project will actually be manufactured and delivered, identify potential issues within the tender information and use your experience to ensure projects are priced accurately and commercially.

You will work closely with the wider team, including design, production, purchasing, project management and installation, ensuring that the information provided at tender stage is accurate and provides a solid foundation for the project.

Reviewing incoming enquiries, tender documents, drawings, specifications and schedules.

Assessing project requirements and identifying the scope of works.

Preparing detailed and accurate estimates for bespoke joinery, shopfitting and fit-out projects.

Completing detailed material and labour take-offs.

Calculating manufacturing, assembly, finishing, delivery and installation costs.

Pricing bespoke joinery elements based on drawings, specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Understanding different materials, finishes, fixtures and fittings and their associated costs.

Obtaining quotations from suppliers, subcontractors and specialist trades.

Reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure they accurately reflect the required scope.

Comparing costs and negotiating where appropriate to achieve competitive pricing.

Identifying exclusions, assumptions, risks and potential omissions within tender information.

Allowing for appropriate labour, materials, plant, equipment, transport and installation requirements.

Preparing detailed cost breakdowns and formal quotations.

Ensuring estimates are completed accurately and within agreed tender deadlines.

Working on multiple tenders and projects simultaneously.

Liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments as required.

Attending site visits or meetings where required to understand project requirements.

Supporting the project team during the handover from estimating to production and project delivery.

Providing clarification and additional costing information during the tender process.

Assisting with variations, additional works and revised project requirements.

Reviewing project costs and providing commercial information to support the successful delivery of projects.

Assisting with final accounts and ensuring estimated and actual costs can be reconciled.

Maintaining accurate records of estimates, supplier quotations and tender information.

Continuously developing knowledge of materials, suppliers, manufacturing processes and market costs.

    The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator with a strong background in joinery, fit-out or building fabrication projects. This is a hands-on, technical estimating role, so industry experience is essential.

    The successful candidate will have:

5+ years’ estimating experience within joinery, fit-out, shopfitting or building fabrication.

Strong technical knowledge and the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

A practical understanding of materials, manufacturing, fabrication and installation.

Experience producing accurate estimates, take-offs and quotations.

Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and margins.

Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.

The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

A positive attitude and a genuine desire to be part of a successful team.

    A full UK driving licence.

Most importantly, a desire to build a long-term career with an established and growing business.

We’re looking for someone who is technically minded, commercially aware and takes pride in getting the detail right. You’ll be joining an experienced team where your knowledge is valued, your ideas are listened to and there is genuine opportunity to develop and progress.
