How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Software Engineer (PHP/Laravel & Node.js)

    1 year FTC | St Paul's, London | Hybrid (2 days in office) | £60,000-£70,000

We're partnering with a growing, technology-driven organisation looking to add a Software Engineer to its engineering team.

This is an opportunity to join a business that values strong technical foundations, modern development practices and continuous learning. You'll work across PHP/Laravel and Node.js/TypeScript, helping to build and enhance scalable applications, integrations and services while collaborating with experienced engineers in a supportive, high-performing environment.

The role will play a key part in the development of a new internal business platform, supporting the replacement and modernisation of a core business system. Working closely with the wider technology team, you'll help build new functionality, integrations and services that improve operational efficiency and support the organisation's long-term digital transformation goals.

We're particularly interested in developers who embrace AI-assisted engineering and regularly use tools such as Cursor or Claude to improve productivity, code quality and delivery.

    What we're looking for

Strong experience with PHP and Laravel
Commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript
Experience using AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude or similar
Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong engineering fundamentals
Someone who enjoys learning, collaborating and developing their skills within a supportive team

If you're a Software Engineer looking for a role that offers technical challenge, genuine career development and the chance to work with a modern technology stack in a highly regarded team, we'd love to hear from you
