How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Do you have experience supporting people affected by domestic abuse or other complex needs? Join us as a Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (HIDVA) and play a vital role in providing independent advocacy and specialist support to survivors of domestic abuse within a hospital setting.
This is a highly rewarding role where you'll work directly with survivors from the point of crisis, helping them access the support, protection and practical assistance they need to move towards safety and recovery. You'll manage a complex caseload, carry out risk and needs assessments, develop safety and support plans, and work closely with clinicians, safeguarding teams, the Police, social care and other partner agencies.
We're looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient and able to build trust with people experiencing some of the most challenging circumstances of their lives. You'll need a strong understanding of domestic abuse and safeguarding, confidence working in a multi-agency environment, and the ability to remain calm and focused when managing complex and high-risk situations.
This role is based in Oxford with travel to hospital sites and partner locations across Oxfordshire as required. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Please refer to the attached Role Profile for full responsibilities and deliverables.
    More About You
    * Extensive knowledge of domestic abuse and the barriers survivors face in accessing support
    * Experience carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and case management
    * Experience managing complex caseloads from initial assessment through to resolution
    * Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and risk management
    * Excellent communication, advocacy and interpersonal skills
    * Experience working within a multi-agency environment, including health, housing, social care, policing or the voluntary sector
    * Ability to remain calm, professional and resilient in crisis situations
    * A trauma-informed and client-centred approach to supporting survivors
    * GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grades A*–C)
    * A relevant qualification or training in domestic abuse, criminal justice, social work, law or a related field would be advantageous
    * Knowledge of trauma-informed practice would be advantageous
    * A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
