How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Taylor Stevenson are currently recruiting experienced Commercial Painters to join a well-established and growing business specialising in the refurbishment and painting of articulated trailers.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for surface preparation, repairs, painting, and finishing work to ensure trailers meet quality, safety, and appearance standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare articulated trailers for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and removing old paint or corrosion.
    Carry out minor repairs to trailer surfaces prior to painting.
    Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray-painting equipment and other appropriate methods.
    Mix paints and coatings to achieve correct colours and finishes.
    Inspect completed work to ensure a high-quality finish and compliance with company standards.
    Maintain painting equipment, spray guns, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
    Follow health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and hazardous materials.
    Identify defects and carry out touch-ups or rework as required.
    Work efficiently to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
    Assist with general refurbishment tasks as required.
    Skills and Experience

    Previous experience in commercial, industrial, automotive, or trailer painting.
    Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and paint application methods.
    Experience using airless or conventional spray-painting equipment.
    Ability to work from specifications and quality standards.
    Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Understanding of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
    Desirable Qualifications

    NVQ or equivalent qualification in Vehicle Refinishing, Industrial Painting, or a related field.
    Forklift, MEWP, or other relevant workshop certifications.
    Experience working on HGVs, trailers, commercial vehicles, or industrial equipment.
    Working Conditions

    Workshop-based environment.
    Use of spray booths, power tools, and painting equipment.
    Standing, bending, lifting, and manual handling throughout the working day.
    Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.

    Package

    Salary up to £41,000 per year.
    Full-time permanent position.
    45-hour working week.
