How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting for Warehouse Operatives on behalf of our client, a leading global engineering and manufacturing company based in Ross-Shire.

As a Warehouse Operative, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, ensuring goods and parts are received, stored and distributed efficiently to support the wider factory operation.
You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, organisation and operational effectiveness, while working closely with management and other departments to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
Forklift Operations – Safely operate forklifts in line with company procedures and health and safety standards. Carry out daily checks, ensure equipment is maintained appropriately, and safely move goods around the warehouse and factory. Loading and unloading vehicles will also be required.
Inventory Control – Support regular stock checks and cycle counts, ensuring stock quantities are accurate and goods are stored in the correct locations and appropriately labelled.
Goods In – Receive and process incoming deliveries, checking goods against delivery notes and recording them accurately. Report any discrepancies, shortages or damaged goods to management.
Preparing Shipments – Prepare goods for collection and dispatch, ensuring all items are correctly packaged and that the relevant paperwork matches the goods being dispatched.
COSHH – Ensure COSHH-controlled items are stored safely and in the correct designated locations in accordance with company procedures.
Warehouse Organisation – Maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised warehouse. Ensure equipment is stored correctly when not in use and promptly report any damage, defects or other issues to management.
Coordination – Work closely with management and colleagues to complete warehouse-related tasks and support the wider operation as required.
Health & Safety – Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times and follow all company policies and procedures.
Waste Management – Support the effective management and disposal of waste across the site.
    Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Previous warehouse experience is desirable, ideally around 2 years, although this is not essential as full training will be provided.
A valid forklift licence is desirable; training can be provided for the right candidate.
    Good organisational and time-management skills.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use inventory, ERP or warehouse management systems. Training will be provided where required.
Good written and spoken English, with a reasonable level of numeracy.
Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy items where required.
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Flexible and willing to adapt to changing priorities and tasks at short notice.
Good problem-solving skills, particularly when working independently.
Strong attention to detail and an understanding of quality control, including the ability to identify goods that do not meet required standards.
Willingness to learn new skills and support colleagues across the warehouse and wider operation.
Reliable with good timekeeping and attendance.
We are looking for a reliable, organised and hardworking individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe and efficient warehouse environment. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, good attention to detail and a willingness to learn and develop within the role.

Full training will be provided where required, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their warehouse and logistics experience within an established global manufacturing environment.
