How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You will take responsibility for the development and coordination of civil engineering designs, working closely with other engineering and design disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.

The position offers hybrid working, with two days per week required in the London office.

The role will suit an experienced engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of civil design packages, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting the successful delivery of complex projects.

    Key Responsibilities

·Lead and develop civil engineering designs covering site levels, drainage networks, roads, pavements and earthworks.
·Undertake surface water drainage and flood-related design assessments.
·Design and coordinate below-ground utilities, including ducts, pipework and chambers.
·Produce and review designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
·Undertake drainage and hydraulic modelling using InfoDrainage or similar software.
·Coordinate civil designs with structural, architectural and building services teams.
·Manage technical information and documentation for statutory approvals and submissions.
·Support sewer connection, adoption and public highway approval processes.
·Lead engagement with local authorities, Building Control, the Environment Agency, utility providers and other relevant stakeholders.
·Review designs and ensure compliance with applicable UK standards, regulations and project requirements.
·Provide technical input and guidance to other members of the project team.

    About You

·Strong experience working within civil engineering design, ideally within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
·Proven ability to independently manage and deliver civil engineering design packages.
·Strong experience in drainage, highways, levels, earthworks and external works design.
·Good understanding of below-ground utilities and multidisciplinary design coordination.
·Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
·Experience using drainage modelling software such as InfoDrainage.
·Experience working with statutory authorities and managing technical approval processes.
·Familiarity with sewer adoption, connection and highway approvals.
·Knowledge of Section 104, Section 106 and Section 278 processes would be advantageous.
·Good understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and Building Regulations.
·Understanding of BIM-led project delivery, with Revit experience beneficial but not essential.
·Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
·Chartered, or progressing towards chartership with the ICE or an equivalent professional institution, would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a busy multidisciplinary team on a contract basis, taking ownership of civil design delivery across a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects.
