How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

General Store Manager - Senior Retail Leadership

    Location: London (SW1) | Salary: £90,000-£115,000 + benefits

We are looking for an exceptional General Store Manager to lead a major, complex retail operation and drive the next stage of its performance.

This is a senior commercial leadership role for someone who knows how to lead large teams, develop managers, drive sales performance and create a culture where high standards are expected and achieved.

We are deliberately open on sector. You could come from luxury, premium or mainstream retail. What matters is the quality of your leadership, your commercial instincts and your ability to operate at significant scale and complexity.

The successful General Store Manager will be someone who is still ambitious, still developing and still looking to build something. We are not looking for someone simply comfortable with where they are.

    The Opportunity

As General Store Manager, you will have responsibility for a significant retail operation, leading through managers and high-performing sales professionals across sales, operations and client experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to set the direction, understand the numbers, challenge performance and get into the detail when required.

    You will be responsible for:

Driving sales, profitability and overall business performance.
Leading and developing managers to create high-performing teams.
Creating clear accountability around KPIs, targets and commercial objectives.
Identifying, developing and progressing future talent.
Building strong client relationships and developing opportunities through clientelling, networking and events.
Using data and management information to identify opportunities and improve performance.
Ensuring operational standards, processes and efficiency are consistently maintained.
Creating a strong culture of service, performance and continuous improvement.
Working with internal and external stakeholders to maximise commercial opportunities. What We're Looking For

We are deliberately broad on background.

You could currently be a Store Director, Area Manager, General Manager, Senior Store Manager or another senior retail leader ready for a bigger challenge.

You may come from luxury jewellery, watches or fashion, but equally you could come from premium retail, hospitality, automotive or another high-performance customer-focused environment.

We are looking for substance rather than a particular logo on your CV.

    You will be:

Commercially astute, with a strong track record of delivering sales and business performance.
Experienced in managing managers and large, high-performing teams.
A strong people leader who knows how to develop, challenge and retain talent.
Comfortable managing complexity and balancing commercial priorities with operational excellence.
Highly client-focused and able to build a culture where exceptional service is expected.
Confident working with data, KPIs, budgets and performance measures.
Comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level.
Energetic, hands-on and willing to get into the detail.
Ambitious, with a genuine desire to continue developing your own career. What About Luxury?

You don't need to have spent your career in luxury.

However, if you are coming from outside the sector, you need to understand what great luxury service and retail look like.

The General Store Manager will ultimately be responsible for creating an environment where the client experience is exceptional. That means understanding the importance of detail, personalisation, relationship building, presentation, service and the ability to anticipate what the client needs rather than simply responding to it.

If you have worked in another premium environment, we want to understand how you have created those standards and how you would translate them into a luxury setting.

And if you already have luxury experience, we want to see the commercial and operational substance behind it. Brand names alone aren't enough.

This is an opportunity for a General Store Manager who wants to build, develop and progress - someone with the ambition to take on a significant leadership challenge rather than simply move sideways.

If you are a commercially driven retail leader with the people leadership, operational capability and client focus to make a real difference, we'd like to hear from you.
