How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a leading entity in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves providing conceptual schemes and working designs for the company's product line, which includes aircraft 'Hush houses', aero-engine test cells, and acoustic chambers, using advanced computer-aided design tools.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Realising the designs into working shop drawings, bills of materials, installation & assembly drawings, instructions and diagrams.
    Engaging the services of specialist engineers where necessary.
    Creating design schemes in sufficient detail for shop drawings and managing the manufacturing tasks.
    Contributing to the creation of technical specifications and scopes of work.
    Sourcing cost-effective components, materials, and vendors.
    Inspecting manufactured items to verify compliance with design drawings and specifications.
    Selecting components for mechanical and electromechanical systems.
    Producing designs and renderings for proposals and sales departments.
    Assisting with the development of operations and maintenance manuals.

    Job Requirements:

    High proficiency in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing suite, with beneficial experience in Solidworks.
    Experience in concept design, including generating detailed 2D/3D assemblies and managing drawing libraries.
    Understanding of the entire lifecycle of the design process from planning to implementation.
    Sound knowledge of GD&T and the ability to produce drawings to BS 8888.
    Experience in an ISO9001:2015 environment, maintaining QA controls and procedures.
    Structured approach to recording and documenting designs.
    Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team.
    Familiarity with control systems, electrical/electronic symbols, and wiring diagrams.
    Knowledge of structural design, including steelworks and civil construction.
    Familiarity with mechanical, fuel, compressed air, water cooling, and hydraulic systems and relevant standards.
    Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    Computer literacy, especially with MS Office programs.
    Willingness to work on-site, including possible overseas travel for project support.
    Involvement in project and office support as required.

    Additional Skills/Notes:

    International travel may be required for UK and overseas customers.
    Knowledge of CFD is advantageous.
    A Full UK Driving Licence is preferred.
    The role primarily involves office-based work.
