How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a broad and varied buying role where you will take ownership of customer accounts and homeware product ranges, working closely with internal teams, customers and overseas suppliers to develop commercially successful products from initial concept through to launch.

You’ll be responsible for identifying new product opportunities, analysing market and consumer trends, developing ranges that meet customer requirements and ensuring products deliver against margin expectations.

    The role will involve:

    * Owning specific customer accounts and supporting sales targets

    * Developing commercial homeware ranges aligned to customer requirements

    * Managing margins, costs and profitability across your categories

    * Taking products through the full development process, from initial concept to launch

    * Overseeing the sample approval process, including lab dips, strike-offs and seals

    * Conducting regular in-store and online competitor and market analysis

    * Identifying trends and new product opportunities to support range development

    * Working closely with overseas suppliers and factories to develop and source new products

    * Attending trade fairs to identify trends, products and new suppliers

    * Managing multiple projects, customers and critical deadlines simultaneously

    * Working collaboratively with Buyers, Category Managers and wider stakeholders

    * Potentially travelling to customer offices and overseas factories as required

This is an opportunity to join a growing business where you’ll have genuine exposure to end-to-end product development, international sourcing and commercial range building.

    ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

We’re looking for an experienced Junior Buyer who combines strong commercial understanding with excellent product development and sourcing experience looking for their next step.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * Proven buying experience across a broad range of Homeware/General Merchandise categories (hard goods)

    * Strong understanding of product development from concept through to launch

    * Experience managing costs, margins and commercial targets

    * Experience working with overseas suppliers and factories

    * A strong understanding of marketplace trends, competitors and customer requirements

    * Experience conducting competitor analysis and using market insight to influence product development

    * Experience managing samples and product approvals

    * Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and customer requirements

    * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

    * A confident, outgoing and commercially minded personality

    * A resilient, proactive and solutions-focused approach

    * The flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Experience attending trade fairs and travelling overseas for sourcing would be advantageous.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is commercially driven, product-focused and confident in their ability to identify opportunities and turn them into successful homeware ranges.

    ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a product and supply chain business, working with a fantastic portfolio of well-known customers across the retail and lifestyle sectors.

The business operates across the full product lifecycle, supporting customers from product development and design through to sourcing, production, delivery and marketing.

With an international network of teams, suppliers and manufacturing partners, the business offers an exciting environment for someone who wants exposure to global product development, sourcing and commercial retail.
