How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Permitting Coordinator - Bristol
    Location: Bristol
    Salary: Up to £40,000

    Role Overview
    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Permitting Coordinator to join a growing highways and civil engineering business based in Bristol.
    Working within a busy operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing permits and associated streetworks activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, legally and in line with programme requirements.
    Key Responsibilities
    ·Manage and track permit applications from submission through to completion.
    ·Raise, coordinate and close works notices accurately and within required timescales.
    ·Monitor permit durations and arrange extensions where required.
    ·Coordinate road space bookings with Project Managers, Supervisors and operational teams.
    ·Liaise with Local Authorities, utility companies and other key stakeholders.
    ·Coordinate bus stop and parking suspensions, TTOs and TMAN applications.
    ·Monitor reinstatement inspections and proactively resolve issues relating to FPNs and inspection data.
    ·Maintain accurate permit records, trackers and databases using Excel and Microsoft Teams.
    ·Prepare monthly KPI reports and provide accurate permitting data to management.
    ·Ensure all works remain compliant with relevant legislation and permit conditions.

    Skills & Experience
    ·2-3 years' experience in a Permitting Coordinator, Streetworks Coordinator or similar role.
    ·Highways, utilities or civil engineering experience preferred.
    ·Strong understanding of permit durations, extensions and Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs).
    ·Good working knowledge of NRSWA and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
    ·Experience using Street Manager, Confirm, Symology, Causeway, Mayrise or similar systems is desirable.
    ·Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyse and report on data.
    ·Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
    ·Confident communicating with Local Authorities, operational teams and external stakeholders.
    ·Ability to manage multiple permits and deadlines within a busy environment.
