How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client, a manufacturing industry powerhouse, is looking for a qualified skilled CNC machinist to join their night-shift team in a permanent role.

The position involves machining high‑precision components from titanium, steel, and aluminum, working to tight tolerances and quality standards in a production or aerospace/precision engineering environment.
Programming is not a requirement as all shop programs are produced off-line by our Manufacturing Engineering department, but some ISO/EIA programming experience may be useful in out of hours trouble shooting but not a core requirement.

This role will require the individual to work a permanent NIGHT SHIFT pattern, and overtime when requested.

The role also requires the candidate to be self-certified and a quality stamp holder after qualifying period.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Set, operate, and adjust Mazak CNC machines (3‑axis and 4‑axis), including mill‑turn centres.
    * Machine complex components to tight tolerances and high surface finish requirements.
    * Work with difficult and exotic materials including titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum alloys.
    * Interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    * Operators will not normally see a cad model in usual operating conditions. They will work with process stage sketches, tech specs and drawing references where required, using the in-house Solumina interface. Solumina experience will not need to be a requirement here though as it is easily picked up for shop use.
    * Offsetting and tool compensation for process control is essential and some experience of speed / feed use may be preferable for out of hours troubleshooting.
    * Carry out first‑off inspections and ongoing quality checks using a variety of measuring equipment, including CMM machinery.
    * Identify and resolve machining or tooling issues to minimise scrap and downtime.
    * Maintain machines and work area to ensure safe and efficient operation.
    * Work to production schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards.

    Key Skills & Experience
    * Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering / CNC Machining preferred
    * Relevant manufacturing or machining certifications advantageous
    * Proven experience operating Mazak CNC machines
    * Strong background in 3‑axis and 4‑axis machining
    * Experience with complex mill‑turn operations
    * Confident machining titanium, steel, and aluminum
    * Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and tool life management
    * Excellent ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
    * Competent with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, CMM awareness)
    * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
