How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Plant Fitter

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Fitter to join a busy engineering operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled maintenance professional with experience working on heavy plant, lifting equipment and specialist machinery.

    The role will involve maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of plant and lifting equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, compliant and available for operational use.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out planned maintenance, servicing and inspections on plant and lifting equipment.
    Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
    Prepare equipment for statutory inspections, including LOLER examinations.
    Attend customer and operational sites to carry out repairs and breakdown support when required.
    Work in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, risk assessments, Health & Safety requirements, DVSA standards and relevant legislation.
    Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection and repair records.
    Support third-party inspections and statutory examinations.
    Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.
    Manage parts, tools and consumable stock effectively.

    About You

    NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant Maintenance, Engineering or a related discipline.
    NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations for servicing forklift trucks.
    Previous experience maintaining heavy plant, cranes, lifting equipment or similar machinery.
    Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills.
    Good understanding of LOLER and PUWER requirements.
    Full, clean UK driving licence.
    Willingness to travel to site when required.
