How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Controls & Instrumentation Electrical Technician

    50k DOE| Monday-Thursday 7am-4pm | Friday 7am-3pm | Overtime Available 

    We're looking for a hands-on Electrical Technician with a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering to join a busy manufacturing site and get involved in a range of interesting controls, instrumentation, electrical projects and hands on.

    This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working on installations, fault finding, wiring and supporting the wider engineering team.

    Role:

    Building and wiring electrical/control panels
    Reading and working from electrical drawings
    Electrical fault finding and problem solving
    Working with PLCs and understanding inputs/outputs - you don't need to be a PLC programmer
    Installing and connecting electrical and instrumentation equipment
    Running cables through permitted/controlled areas
    Wiring and installing interlocks
    Supporting Shift Technicians when required
    Carrying out electrical and instrumentation installations
    Helping to specify equipment and installations
    Getting involved in exciting improvement and automation projects
    Working on systems such as valves, extract systems, controls and instrumentation
    Connecting equipment and helping bring new systems into operation

    What we're looking for:

    NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering or equivalent - essential
    HNC/HND desirable, but not essential
    Hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment
    Confident reading electrical drawings
    Experience with panel building and wiring
    Strong electrical fault-finding skills
    Understanding of PLC inputs and outputs
    Good understanding of controls and instrumentation
    Comfortable running cables, wiring equipment and carrying out installations
    Someone practical, hands-on and happy getting stuck into projects
