How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Inspector (IPC) - 12 Month FTC
    Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire
    Contract: FTC
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week
    Working Pattern: 4-day week – Monday to Thursday
    Security Clearance: BPSS to start / SC clearance required
    The Opportunity
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Inspector to join a leading organisation on a 12-month FTC basis, operating within the defence and advanced engineering sector at their facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Inspector, Quality Inspector or Test Technician with strong knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and experience inspecting and testing cable harnesses, wiring looms and electrical assemblies.
    You'll join an established Quality team supporting the manufacture of high-value, high-reliability products across a range of technically challenging programmes. The position also benefits from an excellent 4-day working week, Monday to Thursday.
    The Role
    As an Electrical Inspector, you'll be responsible for ensuring manufactured electrical products conform to the required engineering, quality and IPC standards. You'll work across both high-volume electrical cable manufacturing and specialist one-off/investigation work, carrying out inspection, electrical testing and supporting the management of non-conforming products.
    Responsibilities will include:
    * Inspection of electrical cable harnesses, wiring looms and associated assemblies
    * Ensuring products conform to IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements
    * Working to IPC-A-610 standards where applicable
    * Carrying out electrical testing including continuity, bonding and resistance testing
    * Using electrical measurement equipment including digital multimeters and ohmmeters
    * Inspecting products against engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
    * Identifying and managing non-conforming products
    * Supporting fault finding and investigation activities
    * Ensuring correct ESD controls are followed when handling sensitive electronic products
    * Accurately recording inspection and test results
    * Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues
    * Supporting continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing operation
    What We're Looking For
    We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in electrical inspection, electronics inspection, cable/harness inspection or electrical test within a manufacturing environment. You should be able to demonstrate:
    * Good working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620
    * Experience inspecting cable and wire harness assemblies
    * Experience carrying out electrical testing
    * Confident use of digital multimeters, ohmmeters and electrical measurement equipment
    * Understanding of continuity, resistance and bonding testing
    * Understanding of ESD control and handling sensitive electronic products
    * Ability to follow detailed engineering drawings, specifications, SOPs and work instructions
    * Basic electrical fault-finding and problem-solving ability
    Desirable Experience
    Any of the following would be particularly advantageous:
    * IPC-A-610 knowledge or certification
    * IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
    * Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
    * ATE programming experience
    * SAP or similar ERP/MRP system experience
    * Previous defence or aerospace manufacturing experience
    * Experience within other high-reliability manufacturing environments
    * Experience investigating and managing non-conforming products
    Relevant Backgrounds
    Defence or aerospace experience would be advantageous, but we're also interested in candidates from other highly regulated or quality-driven industries.
    The most important requirement is practical experience of electrical inspection/testing combined with a strong understanding of IPC standards, particularly IPC/WHMA-A-620.
    Security Clearance
    Due to the nature of the programmes involved, candidates must be eligible to obtain SC security clearance. BPSS clearance will be required prior to starting.
    Interested?
    If you're an Electrical Inspector, Quality Inspector, Electrical Test Technician, Electronics Inspector, Cable Harness Inspector or Electrical Quality Technician with IPC experience, we'd like to hear from you
