We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner to join a precision engineering and manufacturing environment based in Blaydon.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components to customer specifications, engineering drawings and required tolerances.
The Role
* Set and operate modern CNC turning machines.
* Programme CNC lathes where required.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and tolerances.
* Select appropriate tooling, materials and work-holding methods.
* Carry out in-process inspections and dimensional checks.
* Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
* Adjust machine settings to maintain quality and optimise performance.
* Work with a range of metals and alloys, including stainless steels and high-performance materials.
* Record production data accurately.
* Carry out basic machine maintenance.
* Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
* Work closely with production and quality teams to meet delivery schedules.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
About You
* Strong experience in CNC turning, including setting and operating CNC lathes.
* CNC programming experience is highly desirable.
* Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Good knowledge of machining principles, cutting speeds and feeds, tooling and work-holding.
* Experience using precision measuring equipment and carrying out quality checks.
* Experience working with stainless steels and other high-performance materials.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
* Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
* Previous experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification would be advantageous.
* Strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
* Flexibility to work shifts or extended hours when required to support production and customer deadlines.
