How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity
    We are currently recruiting a number of Electrical Assembly Technicians / Cable Harness Technicians to join a leading organisation within the defence and advanced engineering sector at their manufacturing facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians with a background in cable harnesses, wiring looms, electrical assembly or electro-mechanical manufacturing to join a growing production team working on complex, high-value products. The business is expanding its manufacturing capability and has multiple permanent positions available, making this an excellent time to join the team. A major benefit of these positions is the 4-day working week, with employees working their full 37.5 hours Monday to Thursday.
    The Role
    Working as part of a high-volume production environment, you will be responsible for the manufacture and assembly of electrical cables, harnesses and associated components. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
    * Building and assembling electrical cable harnesses and wiring looms

    * Cable preparation and termination

    * Carrying out soldering activities
    * Using hand tools, jigs, fixtures and measuring equipment
    * Working within defined production and manufacturing processes
    * Ensuring assemblies meet the required quality and workmanship standards
    * Identifying manufacturing issues and working with engineering teams to resolve problems
    * Completing work accurately on complex and high-value hardware
    * Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and compliance throughout the manufacturing process
    What We're Looking For
    We would like to speak with candidates who have practical experience within electrical assembly, cable harness manufacture or wiring loom production. You should ideally have experience in some or all of the following:

    * Crimping and termination
    * Soldering
    * Cable preparation
    * Connector assembly
    * Reading engineering drawings and technical documentation
    * Working within a production or manufacturing environment
    * Using hand tools and production equipment
    Candidates coming from high-volume production environments with relevant cable, wiring or electrical assembly experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
    Qualifications
    A relevant Level 3 qualification would be advantageous; however, candidates with a Level 2 qualification and strong practical experience will also be considered. Knowledge or experience of IPC standards would be highly desirable.
    Relevant Industry Backgrounds
    Experience within defence or aerospace is advantageous but not essential. We are interested in hearing from technicians from a range of manufacturing backgrounds, including:
    * Defence
    * Aerospace
    * Automotive
    * Motorsport
    * Rail
    * Marine / naval
    * Electronics manufacturing
    * Specialist vehicle manufacturing

    The key requirement is strong, hands-on experience with cable harnesses, wiring looms, electrical assembly, crimping and/or soldering.
    Interview Process
    The interview will be conducted face-to-face in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their practical manufacturing experience and talk through an engineering drawing as part of the technical assessment. The hiring team is happy to consider candidates who may not have every desirable qualification but who can demonstrate the required practical ability.
