How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a international law firm, who are looking to recruit an experienced Patent Litigation Associate to join their team based in Central London.

    JOB DETAILS

    WORK TYPE: Permanent
    WORK PATTERN: Full Time
    LOCATION: London JOB ROLE

An established international law firm is seeking a talented IP litigator to join its growing London practice.

This is an opportunity to work within a highly regarded, collaborative patent litigation team, acting on complex and high-value contentious matters before the UK courts and supporting cross-border disputes involving leading international businesses.

You will take an active role in UK patent litigation, working closely with colleagues and clients on technically complex disputes. The role offers exposure to a broad range of intellectual property matters and the opportunity to contribute to multi-jurisdictional litigation strategies.

    JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

Running and supporting UK patent litigation, including technical analysis, evidence, strategy and case management.
Advising on patent enforcement, validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate matters.
Working with international colleagues on coordinated disputes across the UK, US and Europe.
Advising on other IP rights, including trade marks, copyright, designs, confidential information and passing off.
Supporting transactional and broader advisory IP matters where appropriate.
Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development.
For more senior candidates, supervising and mentoring junior lawyers. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

Around 3–7 PQE, although applications from lawyers at other levels will be considered on merit.
Strong experience in patent litigation, ideally gained within a leading international or specialist IP practice.
A scientific or technical background, such as life sciences, chemistry, engineering, computer science or physics.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to engage confidently with complex technical subject matter.
Strong drafting and communication skills, together with a commercially minded approach.
Experience across other IP rights, particularly trade marks, designs or copyright, is highly desirable.
Experience relating to pharmaceutical or medical devices regulation, including SPCs, regulatory data or market exclusivity rights, would be advantageous but is not essential.
A collaborative approach, with the confidence to take ownership of matters while working effectively as part of a supportive team.
Please be advised that only candidates that have the specific skills and experiences required for this role will be shortlisted and submitted to our client for review.
