How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrician – Permanent Position

    Location: Cambridge, Peterborough & Huntingdon
    Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum
    Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    The Role

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrician to join a well-established social housing contractor on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance and testing across social housing properties throughout Cambridge, Peterborough and Huntingdon.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician looking for a stable, long-term position with a reputable contractor, offering a competitive salary, company van and fuel card.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out reactive electrical repairs and planned maintenance within social housing properties.
    Diagnose and rectify electrical faults safely and efficiently.
    Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).
    Carry out electrical remedial works identified through inspections and testing.
    Ensure all electrical works are completed in accordance with current regulations and relevant industry standards.
    Complete testing, inspection and certification accurately and efficiently.
    Liaise professionally with tenants, colleagues and clients while working in occupied properties.
    Maintain high standards of workmanship, health and safety and customer service.
    Complete job sheets, reports and relevant documentation accurately.
    Manage a daily workload effectively while working independently.
    Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota, typically covering one week in every month.
    Respond to emergency electrical repairs and maintenance issues during out-of-hours periods as part of the rota.

    Requirements

    NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    2391 Inspection & Testing – desirable.
    Previous experience working within social housing, housing association or domestic maintenance environments is highly desirable.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
    Good communication and customer service skills.
    Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.
    Commitment to health and safety and delivering high-quality workmanship.
    Willingness and availability to participate in the out-of-hours rota.
