How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Sue Ross Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with our client, a highly respected and purpose-led creative communications agency, in the recruitment of a Business Development Executive.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative agency that delivers impactful campaigns across health, sustainability, equality, diversity and public sector engagement. Due to continued growth and ambitious future plans, our client is seeking a commercially minded and proactive Business Development Executive to support the development of new business opportunities and strengthen their presence across key sectors.

Sue Ross Recruitment is looking to speak with ambitious individuals who are passionate about building client relationships, developing new opportunities and utilising the latest AI technologies to drive business growth. This newly created role offers excellent exposure across the business and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the company's future success.

The successful candidate will focus on generating new business opportunities, particularly across public sector markets, whilst supporting wider business development, tendering and marketing activities. Working closely with senior leadership and creative teams, you will identify prospective clients, nurture relationships and contribute towards achieving ambitious growth targets.

A significant aspect of the position involves the use of AI platforms and CRM systems to support lead generation, market research and client targeting. Candidates should therefore be confident utilising tools such as HubSpot, Claude, Gemini and LinkedIn as part of a strategic business development approach.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce targeted prospect lists using CRM systems, HubSpot and AI tools.

    * Identify and engage prospective clients through email, LinkedIn and other outreach channels.

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and commissioning organisations.

    * Achieve agreed quarterly business development targets.

    * Produce reports on activity, market intelligence, lead generation and conversion rates.

    * Gather and interpret client briefs.

    * Prepare proposals, presentations and pitch documentation.

    * Support the wider business development team in converting opportunities into live projects.

    * Research and identify new markets, sectors and growth opportunities.

    * Assist with marketing activities, case studies and content creation to support brand awareness.

    * Collaborate with creative and communications teams to maximise opportunities arising from existing client work and referrals.

    Tender & Sector Development

    * Research tender portals and identify suitable opportunities.

    * Support the preparation and coordination of tender submissions.

    * Contribute written content and ideas for bid responses.

    * Research new sectors and routes to market.

    * Assist with the preparation of promotional and marketing materials.

    Person Specification

We are interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:

    * Experience in sales, business development or client relationship management.

    * Strong experience using LinkedIn as a business development tool.

    * HubSpot and CRM system experience.

    * Experience using AI tools such as Claude, Gemini or similar platforms.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    * Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.

    * Excellent organisation and attention to detail.

    * A proactive, self-motivated and target-driven approach.

    * Creativity and the ability to contribute fresh ideas.

    * The ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

    * A genuine desire to learn, develop and contribute to business growth.

    *

    Why Apply?

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking and values-driven organisation where your ideas and contribution will have a direct impact on business success. The role offers genuine scope for development, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects and sectors.

Unfortunately due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback to all applicants. Please assume that if you do not hear from us within 72 hours that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.

May we take this opportunity to thank you for expressing an interest in one of our roles and wish you the very best in your search for employment
