How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Join a World-Class Manufacturing Team in Peterborough

Are you an experienced Utilities Engineer with a passion for reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement? Do you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges while ensuring critical plant services operate at peak performance?

At Crown, we're not just producing cans, we're creating world-class products through innovation, precision, and teamwork. With over 130 years of global success, operations across 39 countries, and a reputation for manufacturing excellence, we offer the stability of a global leader combined with the energy and ambition of a high-performing and growing site.

Our Peterborough facility has rapidly established itself as one of the best-performing plants within the Crown network. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Utilities Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and improving the utility systems that support our world-class manufacturing operation.

    The Opportunity

Working Monday to Friday as our Utilities Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of critical site utility systems. Working as part of the Engineering team, you'll provide technical support during utility breakdowns, investigate equipment downtime, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to improve reliability and plant performance.

You'll develop and coordinate preventative maintenance programmes across a range of utility systems including boilers, water treatment equipment, cooling water systems, compressed air systems, vacuum pumps, HVAC systems, sprinkler systems, and regenerative thermal oxidisers (RTOs). Through routine inspections, contractor management, and condition monitoring activities, you'll ensure all systems are maintained in line with OEM recommendations and industry best practices. The role also plays an important part in Crown's sustainability and continuous improvement ambitions. You'll monitor energy consumption across key equipment, conduct air leak surveys, identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, and support the implementation of energy-saving initiatives across the site.

Working closely with production teams, CPOs, and maintenance engineers, you'll provide support during breakdowns and planned maintenance activities while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and permit-to-work requirements. You'll also support equipment trials, installations, commissioning projects, and work flexibly across the operation to help deliver maximum production output and quality.

    What's on Offer

    Salary of £44,659
    Pension scheme and healthcare benefits
    Generous holiday allowance
Opportunity to work within a world-class manufacturing environment
Continuous training and professional development opportunities
Career progression opportunities within a global organisation
A supportive and collaborative engineering team cultureWhat You'll Bring

You'll be a proactive and technically capable engineer with proven experience operating and maintaining utility systems within an industrial or manufacturing environment. You'll have strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities, together with a practical understanding of preventative maintenance, reliability improvement, and asset performance management. A Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Utilities, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is essential.

You'll bring experience maintaining and improving utility systems, alongside strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and maintenance best practices. You'll be comfortable analysing equipment performance data, managing external contractors, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with colleagues across multiple departments. Strong communication skills, organisational ability, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence will be key to success in this role.

    Desirable Experience

Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Knowledge of energy management and sustainability initiatives
Experience managing specialist contractors and service providers
