How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will be BM TRADA Q-Mark qualified and have strong practical experience working to current fire-door standards and manufacturer requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

The role involves installing, repairing, adjusting and maintaining fire doors and associated ironmongery. You will be responsible for carrying out fire-door remedial works to a high standard and ensuring all doors are fitted and maintained in accordance with relevant standards, regulations and manufacturer specifications.

You will be expected to identify defects and report any issues requiring further remedial action, while completing job sheets, photographs and relevant site documentation accurately.

The successful candidate will work safely and maintain high standards of workmanship on every site. You will also liaise professionally with clients, site managers and other contractors and travel nationwide to complete scheduled projects.

You will be responsible for maintaining tools, equipment and company vehicles in good working order and ensuring all works are completed within agreed timescales.

    Essential Requirements

Applicants must have proven experience as a Fire Door Joiner and hold relevant BM TRADA Q-Mark qualifications for fire-door installation or inspection.

You must have strong knowledge of fire-door construction, components and installation requirements, with practical experience working with fire-door frames, intumescent products, seals, hinges, closers, locks and associated hardware.

The role requires excellent attention to detail, a quality-focused approach and the ability to work independently. You must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing and able to travel nationwide, including overnight stays when required.

Good communication skills and a professional approach to customers and colleagues are essential.

    Desirable Experience

Additional fire-door inspection or maintenance qualifications, a relevant joinery qualification or NVQ, a CSCS card and experience working on commercial, social housing, healthcare, education or high-rise projects would be advantageous.

Experience using digital job-management systems and completing photographic evidence would also be beneficial.

    What We Offer

We offer nationwide work across a varied range of projects, with a competitive salary or day rate depending on experience and qualifications.

Travel and accommodation arrangements will be provided for nationwide projects where required. The position offers consistent opportunities for experienced fire-door specialists within a professional and supportive working environment, with opportunities for ongoing training and development
