How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Temporary Support Worker - Children's Secure Unit

    Location: Peterborough
    Pay: £18-£19 per hour
    Position: Temporary / Agency
    Shifts: Day shifts and Waking Nights available
    Driving: Desirable but not essential

    Are you an experienced Support Worker looking for a challenging role where every shift makes a real difference?

    We are looking for Temporary Support Workers to join a Children's Secure Unit in Peterborough, supporting young people within an intense, structured and highly rewarding environment.

    This is a role for someone who is calm under pressure, resilient, compassionate and confident working with young people who may present challenging behaviours.

    The Role

    As a Support Worker, you will help provide a safe, consistent and supportive environment for children and young people within a secure setting. Your responsibilities will include:

    Providing day-to-day care, support and supervision.
    Building positive, professional relationships with young people.
    Supporting emotional wellbeing and encouraging positive behaviours.
    Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging situations.
    Following safeguarding, security and care procedures.
    Working closely with colleagues and other professionals.
    Maintaining clear and accurate records.
    Supporting young people through routines, activities and daily living.
    Working as part of a strong, professional team in a demanding environment.

    Essential Requirements

    Current restraint/physical intervention training is essential.
    Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable.
    Experience within secure, residential, behavioural or challenging environments is advantageous.
    A calm, resilient and professional approach.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to undergo the required checks.A driving licence is desirable but not essential.
