How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Manager – School Fit-Out

    Location: Gloucester
    Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum DOE
    Employment Type: Permanent

    The Opportunity

    We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager with proven school fit-out experience to join an established construction team delivering projects across a variety of site locations.

    This is a key site-based role responsible for the day-to-day management of construction and fit-out operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

    Previous experience managing school fit-out projects is essential for this position.

    Reporting to the Contracts Managers and Construction Director, you will take ownership of site operations while working closely with subcontractors, trades, engineers, architects, surveyors and other project stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Planning & Coordination

    Plan and coordinate all on-site construction and fit-out activities.
    Liaise effectively with Contracts Managers, engineers, architects and surveyors.
    Interpret drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
    Prepare site logistics plans and ensure resources are allocated efficiently.
    Maintain consistent use of Procure throughout all phases of the project.

    Site Management & Supervision

    Manage the day-to-day operations of the construction site.
    Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, tradespeople and labourers.
    Ensure directly employed site operatives complete and submit accurate timesheets.
    Monitor progress and proactively address issues that could impact programme or delivery.
    Carry out regular site inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
    Ensure all site operatives complete the required site induction before starting work and that signing-in records are accurately maintained.

    Health & Safety

    Enforce company health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
    Conduct and review risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
    Ensure all site personnel comply with legal, regulatory and company safety requirements, including PPE standards.
    Report and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.
    Respond appropriately to first-aid incidents and ensure all relevant procedures are followed.

    Resource Management

    Ensure materials, equipment and labour are available when required.
    Monitor material usage and deliveries to prevent shortages and programme delays.
    Maintain effective inventory control and ensure appropriate site security.

    Communication & Reporting

    Provide regular progress updates to Contracts Managers and key stakeholders.
    Maintain accurate site records, including daily site diaries, safety documentation and attendance records.
    Attend site meetings and contribute effectively to project discussions.

    Quality Control

    Ensure works are completed to a high standard and in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
    Identify, manage and rectify defects or deviations in workmanship and materials.
    Maintain a strong focus on quality throughout the project lifecycle.

    Requirements

    Proven Site Management experience within the construction industry.
    Essential: Previous experience managing school fit-out projects.
    Strong understanding of construction processes, site operations and project delivery.
    Experience managing subcontractors, tradespeople and site operatives.
    Strong knowledge of health & safety procedures and site compliance.
    Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documentation.
    Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain project programmes.
    A proactive, hands-on approach to site management.
