How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.

    Test Technician (Night Shift)

    Location: Bedhampton, Havant
    Contract Type: Long-term Contract (PAYE) with opportunity to go permanent
    Shift: Training on Early Shift before moving to Permanent Night Shift
    Rate: £23.38 PAYE or £26.78 PAYE + Holiday Pay (Night Shift Rate)

    About the Role

    We are recruiting for an experienced Test Technician Level 2 to join a leading aerospace manufacturer based in Bedhampton, Havant.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated aerospace environment, supporting the testing and validation of critical hydraulic and mechanical valve assemblies used across both civil and military aircraft platforms.

    The successful candidate will initially complete training on the Early Shift before transitioning to a permanent Night Shift position. Working within a dedicated test facility, you will be responsible for carrying out pressure and fuel testing of mechanical valves, ensuring products meet stringent quality, safety and performance standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate pressure and fuel test rigs for a range of aerospace mechanical valves.
    Conduct internal and external leak testing to identify product defects and ensure compliance.
    Verify and measure torque requirements against engineering specifications.
    Monitor and record pressure flow rates and performance data.
    Carry out shimming and mechanical adjustments to achieve specified cracking pressures.
    Read and interpret technical drawings, engineering documentation and written test procedures.
    Complete all test records accurately and maintain full product traceability.
    Raise and review non-conformances using the non-conformance database.
    Work in line with DESAR working practices and aerospace quality standards.
    Maintain high standards of housekeeping through 5S and TPM methodologies.
    Ensure all testing activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to customer requirements.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Experience using pressure test rigs and fuel test rigs within an engineering or aerospace environment.
    Knowledge of testing mechanical valves and hydraulic components.
    Experience checking:
    Internal and external leaks
    Torque requirements
    Pressure and flow rates
    Product performance against specifications
    Ability to carry out shimming and component adjustments to achieve cracking pressure requirements.
    Ability to read and understand technical drawings and written instructions.
    Understanding of non-conformance processes and quality documentation.
    Knowledge of DESAR working practices.
    Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S and TPM.
    Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

    Desirable Experience

    Aerospace, defence, MOD, or other highly regulated manufacturing background.
    Experience testing hydraulic systems, valve assemblies, or fuel systems.
    Previous experience working to aerospace standards and procedures.
    Exposure to electro-mechanical or hydro-mechanical products.

    Working Hours

    Training Period - Early Shift

    Monday to Thursday: 06:00 - 14:15 (30-minute unpaid break)
    Friday: 06:00 - 12:00

    Night Shift

    Sunday to Wednesday: 22:00 - 06:15 (30-minute unpaid break)
    Thursday: 22:00 - 04:00

    Pay Rates - Test Technician Level 2

    Basic Rate

    £17.58 PAYE or £20.13 PAYE + Holiday PayEarly Shift (+10%)

    £19.34 PAYE or £22.15 PAYE + Holiday PayLate Shift (+25%)

    £21.97 PAYE or £25.17 PAYE + Holiday PayNight Shift (+33%)

    £23.38 PAYE or £26.78 PAYE + Holiday PayOvertime

    x1.5 £26.37 PAYE or £30.20 PAYE + Holiday Pay
    x2 £35.15 PAYE or £40.27 PAYE + Holiday Pay

    Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
    Must be able to comply with aerospace and export control requirements, including ITAR restrictions where applicable.
