How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

I'm currently working with a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy that is looking to strengthen its Transport Planning team with the appointment of a Senior Transport Planner in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team delivering a wide variety of development-led transport planning projects across the UK. You'll work on residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, helping clients navigate the planning process and deliver sustainable transport solutions.

    The Role

As a Senior Transport Planner, you'll play a key role in the delivery of transport planning projects from inception through to planning approval. You'll work closely with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality technical advice and support the successful delivery of schemes across both the public and private sectors.
    Key responsibilities include:

Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
Producing technical reports and supporting planning applications
Undertaking transport modelling and junction assessments using industry-standard software
Providing transport planning advice to clients and project teams
Liaising with local authorities and key stakeholders
Supporting fee proposals, tender submissions and business development activities
Mentoring and developing junior members of the team
Managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively

    About You

To be considered, you should have:

Previous experience within a transport planning consultancy environment
Strong experience preparing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans
Good knowledge of the UK planning system and transport policy
Experience using software such as TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, LinSig and/or TRANSYT
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
Professional membership (CIHT, CILT, TPP, ICE or similar) would be advantageous

    What's on Offer?

    Competitive salary and benefits package
    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
Exposure to a diverse portfolio of development projects
    Clear career progression opportunities
    Supportive and collaborative working environment
Opportunity to work alongside specialists across multiple disciplines
If you're a Transport Planner looking to take the next step in your career, or an experienced Senior Transport Planner seeking a fresh challenge with a respected consultancy, I'd be keen to speak with you.
