How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Freelance Site Agent to join a well-established, multi-million-pound civils contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Agent with a strong civil engineering background to take responsibility for the successful delivery of enabling works, site preparation and haul road construction, working alongside the Project Manager and wider site team.

    The Role

As Site Agent, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, to programme and in accordance with the required quality standards.

The role will have a particular focus on enabling works and early-stage infrastructure, including site establishment, access and haul road construction ahead of the main works.

    Key responsibilities include:

    - Managing the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works.
    - Supervising Site Engineers, Sub Agents, General Foremen and subcontractors.
    - Planning and coordinating enabling works and site preparation.
    - Overseeing the construction of haul roads, access routes and working platforms.
    - Managing earthworks, excavation, material movements and site logistics.
    - Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme and project requirements.
    - Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs and Work Package Plans.
    - Monitoring progress and reporting against programme.
    - Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontract resources.
    - Managing subcontractors and ensuring works are delivered to specification.
    - Maintaining strong health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
    - Working closely with the Project Manager and commercial team on project delivery.
    - Liaising with the client, designers and other project stakeholders.
    - Identifying potential risks, delays and changes and implementing appropriate solutions.

    About You

The successful candidate will have proven experience as a Site Agent on major civils or infrastructure projects, ideally with a background in large-scale enabling works and earthworks.

    You should have experience with:

    - Major infrastructure and civils projects.
    - Enabling works and site establishment.
    - Haul roads, access roads and working platforms.
    - Earthworks, excavation and site clearance.
    - Temporary works and construction logistics.
    - Managing subcontractors and site teams.
    - Working to demanding construction programmes.
    - RAMS, ITPs, WPPs and project documentation.
    - Health, safety, environmental and quality management.
    - Working for a main contractor on major civils schemes.

SMSTS and CSCS are essential, with Temporary Works Coordinator experience and relevant civils qualifications advantageous
