How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Full time office position based in East Hertfordshire office with customer/site travel as and when required

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Contract Manager / Senior Contract and Technical Manager to join a leading specialist facilities management and building services company.

This is a senior position with responsibility for managing a portfolio of technical contracts, ensuring excellent service delivery, maintaining strong customer relationships and achieving agreed contractual and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate will have significant Contract Management experience, ideally gained within facilities management, building services, M&E, mechanical engineering, HVAC or a similar technical environment.

A strong technical background is important, with experience of commercial plant and plant rooms particularly advantageous. Candidates may come from a commercial gas, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, M&E or broader building-services background.

A commercial gas or heating background would be highly beneficial, and relevant ACS qualifications would be an advantage. However, the primary requirement is strong contract management experience combined with sufficient technical understanding to effectively manage technical services and provide leadership to engineers and contractors.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the experience, confidence and gravitas to operate at a senior level, manage customer relationships and lead by example.

The role is predominantly office based, with some travel to customer sites, typically once or twice a week.

    Duties

Take overall responsibility for the effective management and delivery of a portfolio of technical contracts.

Manage contract performance, service delivery, KPIs and agreed contractual requirements.

Act as a senior point of contact for customers, developing and maintaining strong working relationships.

Lead and support engineers, technical teams, contractors and subcontractors.

Ensure all contractual obligations and service requirements are consistently met.

Monitor planned and reactive maintenance delivery, ensuring works are completed within agreed timescales and to the required standard.

Provide support and guidance on technical and operational issues.

Act as an escalation point for complex engineering and service issues, working with technical teams to identify appropriate solutions.

Monitor the quality of works undertaken across commercial plant and building-services systems.

Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

Monitor contract performance and take appropriate action where service levels or KPIs are not being achieved.

Work closely with customers to resolve issues and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.

Support contract reviews, technical audits, investigations and remedial works where required.

Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, health & safety requirements, industry standards and company procedures.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency and cost reduction.

Maintain accurate contract records, reports and documentation.

Work closely with internal teams to ensure effective communication and delivery across all contracts.

Represent the company professionally at all times.

Mentor, coach and develop members of the technical team, sharing knowledge and experience to support their development.

Travel to customer sites as required, typically once or twice per week.

    Experience & Qualifications

Significant experience in Contract Management, ideally within Facilities Management, Building Services, M&E, Engineering or a similar technical environment.

Proven experience managing customer contracts and delivering against contractual requirements and KPIs.

    Strong customer relationship management experience.

Strong technical understanding of commercial plant and building-services systems.

Experience of plant rooms would be highly advantageous.

Background in commercial gas, heating, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, M&E or wider building services.

Commercial gas / ACS qualifications such as COCN1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/TPCP1A or equivalent would be advantageous.

Experience managing engineers, technical teams, contractors or subcontractors.

Strong understanding of technical compliance, health & safety and service standards.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Strong commercial and organisational awareness.

Able to manage multiple contracts, customers and priorities effectively.

Confident working at a senior level and able to demonstrate the experience, credibility and gravitas required to lead by example.

    Full UK driving licence.
