How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Support Worker / Care Assistant

    This is a rewarding opportunity for compassionate and dependable individuals who want to make a genuine difference in residential care, supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs to live safe, fulfilling and meaningful lives.

    No Previous Experience Required – Full Training Provided

    SALARY: £13.16 to £13.80 per Hour + Benefits

    LOCATION: Barry and Bridgend, South Wales

    JOB OVERVIEW

    This is a rewarding opportunity to join the organisation as a Support Worker / Care Assistant helping adults with learning disabilities and complex needs develop independence, achieve personal goals and feel safe, respected and valued.

    As a Support Worker / Care Assistant you will support people with day and night-time routines, provide emotional and practical assistance, maintain accurate records and work closely with families, colleagues, healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary teams.

    The Support Worker / Care Assistant will also provide sensitive personal care, help people access hobbies, education, employment and community activities, and contribute to a positive, welcoming and supportive home environment.

    Please note the organisation is unable to offer workplace visa sponsorship at this time.

    DUTIES

    Your duties as the Support Worker include:

    * Building Positive Relationships: Develop strong, nurturing and professional relationships with the people being supported, providing emotional and practical assistance

    * Supporting Daily Living: Help individuals with everyday tasks, including meal planning, cooking, shopping, cleaning and managing household budgets

    * Providing Personal Care: Assist sensitively with bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility while maintaining dignity, privacy and independence

    * Encouraging Community Access: Support individuals to attend social events, hobbies, employment, education and activities within their local community

    * Administering Medication: Administer prescribed medication, monitor physical and emotional wellbeing and support attendance at medical appointments

    * Providing Companionship: Offer companionship and help implement Positive Behavioural Support plans to support individuals through difficult emotions, behaviours and challenging situations

    * Maintaining Records: Keep accurate daily records of progress, incidents, medication and financial transactions in line with regulatory standards

    * Working Collaboratively: Work professionally with families, colleagues, healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes

    * Supporting Night-Time Care: For waking night roles, support individuals throughout the night, respond calmly to incidents and complete night-time documentation and handovers accurately

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

    * Compassion, patience and a genuine desire to make a positive difference

    * Honesty, empathy and the ability to be a positive role model

    * Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    * The ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging situations

    * A willingness to work towards the required qualification in Health and Social Care

    * A willingness to register with Social Care Wales, where required, and maintain registration throughout employment

    * Flexibility to work allocated shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in duties, depending on the role and the needs of the people being supported

    * Driving licence not necessary essential but would be a huge advantage
