How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Payroll Administrator

    Location: Taunton

    Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

    Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

A well-established and growing professional services business is looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to join its busy payroll team.

The role will involve managing a portfolio of outsourced payroll clients across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on supporting the continued growth of NHS and medical payrolls.

    The Role

You will take a senior role within the payroll team, managing payrolls from start to finish and acting as a key point of contact for clients.

You will work closely with clients to understand their payroll requirements, provide advice on payroll processes and statutory changes, and ensure payrolls are processed accurately and on time.

    Key Responsibilities

Processing multiple client payrolls across different frequencies.

Managing payroll from start to finish, including RTI and HMRC reporting.

Processing pensions, deductions and statutory payments.

Producing payslips and ensuring accurate payroll records.

Advising clients on payroll legislation and statutory changes.

Managing and developing strong client relationships.

Supporting the wider payroll team and sharing knowledge and best practice.

Working with NHS and medical clients where required.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional with:

Strong end-to-end payroll experience, ideally within an outsourced payroll bureau or accountancy practice.

Experience managing multiple payrolls and clients.

NHS or public sector payroll experience is highly desirable.

Excellent knowledge of RTI, HMRC requirements, pensions and statutory payments.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

    Confident communication and client-facing skills.

Good IT and payroll software experience.

Experience with IRIS Payroll Professional, PayCircle and Xero would be advantageous, although training can be provided on specific systems.

    What's on Offer

    Competitive salary depending on experience.

Opportunity to join a well-established and growing business.

    Yeovil or Taunton office location.

    Excellent benefits package.

Minimum 25 days' holiday, increasing with service, plus the option to buy and sell holiday.

    Annual salary review.

    Pension scheme.

    Private medical and healthcare benefits.

Life assurance and employee assistance programme.

    Additional lifestyle and employee benefits.

If you have strong payroll experience and particularly NHS or public sector payroll knowledge, we'd be keen to hear from you.
