How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor - Tier 1 Main Contractor - Build & Refurbishment

    As Quantity Surveyor you will be working closely with the commercial team, reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor on a range of high profile multi-million pound schemes throughout the region. You'll provide commercial support, helping to ensure projects are procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality, whilst exceeding the expectations of our client.

    Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor

    Develop an understanding of Pre-Contract Management and Project commercial start up procedures
    Assist in the preparation of work package content sheets.
    Develop an understanding of the importance of the supply chain to deliver continuous improvement in terms of time, cost, quality and learning of all parties.
    Assisting with estimating projects (dealing with subcontract enquiries / tenders etc)
    Assist in the timely preparation of valuations, submissions of invoices and receipt of payment.
    Assist in the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts.
    Develop an understanding of principle unit costs of resources (labour, plant and materials).
    Assist in the preparation of material wastage reconciliations.
    Identify any unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
    Assist in the review plant and equipment schedules to ensure efficiency of use.
    Contribute to the production of accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts.

    Requirements for a Quantity Surveyor

    Relevant Degree / Qualification in Quantity Surveying / Construction
    Procurement experience
    Experience in re-measurement
    Financial / cost control
    Appropriate CSCS card
    Valid driving licence
    A base understanding of contract law
    Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and specifications.
