How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Summary

    The salary for these full-time, permanent Specialist Teacher for Inclusive Practice positions is Teachers' Pay Scale TMS/UPS: £34,398 - £52,490 per annum plus SEN allowance (bottom of the range).

    The planned start date is 1st January 2027 for these positions.

    The Surrey STIP (Specialist Teaching for Inclusive Practice) Team has opportunities to join our service as a centrally employed Specialist Teacher in one of four teams covering Surrey.

    North West and South West roles are based at Victoria Gate, Chobham Road, Woking, Surrey, GU21 6JD
    North East roles are based at Dakota, 11 De Havilland Drive. Weybridge, KT13 0YP
    South East roles are based at Woodhatch Place, 11 Cockshot Hill, Reigate, RH2 8EF It is an exciting time for our service with the defined Experts at Hand offer as part of the SEND reforms. We currently have several positions available.

    Much of our time is spent in schools, but we also come together regularly in person, and on some occasions, you may be required to travel to school and office bases that are in any of the Surrey quadrants. Outside of these requirements we support hybrid working both in the office and remote home working.

    As a centrally employed teacher working for Surrey County Council, you will work in partnership with schools, families and other professionals delivering a quality service which impacts positively on outcomes for pupils. As a Specialist Teacher for Inclusive Practice, the role provides an opportunity to support the development of a school's capacity to meet the needs of pupils with SEND through systemic work, delivering quality training, supporting the SEN department, modelling group work or following a consultation model around a pupil with complex needs Our guiding mission is 'No one left behind'.
