How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major civil engineering project delivering complex enabling and infrastructure works for a large-scale energy facility. The Sub Agent will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the project, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification and in line with the agreed programme.

Working closely with the Project Manager, the Sub Agent will act as a senior member of the site management team, coordinating site operations, engineering, subcontractors and short-term programming. This is a strong opportunity for a Sub Agent to gain experience on a technically challenging project within the growing energy and infrastructure sector.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Take day-to-day operational responsibility for site activities, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery.

    * Lead the site team and coordinate labour, plant, materials, deliveries and site logistics to maintain progress and minimise disruption.

    * Review and implement RAMS, lead briefings and toolbox talks, and promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture.

    * Manage site permits and coordinate temporary works activities, acting as TWC where appropriately qualified.

    * Ensure environmental controls, waste management and pollution prevention measures are maintained across the project.

    * Own the short-term look-ahead programme, ensuring weekly targets align with the overall project programme.

    * Manage subcontractors on a day-to-day basis, monitoring progress, performance and delivery against agreed programmes.

    * Oversee site engineering activities, including setting out, technical checks and coordination with the engineering team.

    * Manage RFIs and Technical Queries, liaising with designers and the wider project team to resolve issues promptly.

    * Ensure ITPs are completed and progressively signed off, maintaining accurate quality and handover records.

    * Identify and manage NCRs and defects, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and effectively closed out.

    * Monitor works for changes or deviations from the contract scope and highlight potential commercial impacts to the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor.

    * Maintain accurate daily records covering labour, plant, weather, progress, delays and key project events.

    * Monitor plant utilisation, material usage and resources to support efficient delivery and cost control.

    * Mentor and develop members of the site team while maintaining proactive communication with the Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, engineers and subcontractors.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    * Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Site Agent or Senior Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure.

    * Relevant Civil Engineering qualification, such as a degree, HNC or HND, would be advantageous.

    * Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods, site operations and project delivery.

    * Experience managing subcontractors, site teams and short-term programmes.

    * Good understanding of HSE, quality and environmental requirements, including RAMS, ITPs, NCRs and technical documentation.

    * Commercial awareness and knowledge of NEC contracts, including Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events, would be beneficial.

    * CSCS and SMSTS required; TWC/TWS qualification or experience would be advantageous.

    * Experience on major infrastructure, industrial or energy projects would be highly desirable.

    Benefits:

    * Competitive permanent salary with a christmas bonus.

    * Car allowance or company car.

    * 26 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.

    * Opportunity to work on a major energy infrastructure project with strong long-term career development opportunities.

If you're an experienced Sub Agent ready to take a leading role on a major energy infrastructure project, we'd be keen to hear from you
