How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Electrically Trained Swimming Pool Service Engineer (234jc) - Wiltshire – ideally Mid to North Wiltshire - £35k – £40k per annum, dependent on experience

Our client is a growing, highly regarded swimming pool engineering company operating across the Cotswolds and Wessex, providing specialist servicing, maintenance and repair services to high-end residential clients.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

They are specifically interested in hearing from former Armed Forces personnel with an electrical background who are looking to transfer their technical skills into a specialist civilian engineering career.

No previous swimming pool experience is required.

If you have a recognised electrical inspection and testing qualification, together with the discipline, reliability and problem-solving ability developed during your military career, our client will provide the specialist training required to develop you into a fully competent Swimming Pool Service Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a veteran engineer looking for a varied, autonomous field engineering position with long-term career prospects.

    The Role

Working independently in the field, you will visit customer sites across Wiltshire, Swindon, the Cotswolds and surrounding M4 corridor, servicing and maintaining swimming pool equipment and plant rooms.

Following comprehensive training, your responsibilities will include:

    - Inspecting, testing, fault-finding and repairing electrical control panels, pumps, dosing systems, electric heaters, UV systems and automated pool controls.

    - Carrying out routine plant room servicing and mechanical maintenance.

    - Installing and maintaining associated pool equipment.

    - Conducting water testing and chemical balancing.

    - Diagnosing faults and resolving technical problems on site.

    - Completing accurate digital service reports.

    - Ensuring work complies with relevant electrical and safety standards.

    - Managing your own daily travel and workload.

    - Representing the company professionally when dealing with homeowners and facilities managers.

    About You

Our client is looking for someone who combines sound electrical knowledge with the professional standards and personal qualities associated with a successful military career.

    Essential

    - City & Guilds 2391-52 – Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing, or an equivalent - cognised qualification.

    - Full, clean UK driving licence.

    - Former Armed Forces background – Royal Navy, British Army or RAF.

    - Able and comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.

    - Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.

    - Professional and confident when dealing directly with customers.

Previous swimming pool experience is not required.

Experience working with pumps, motors, control systems, plumbing or hydraulics would be advantageous, as would existing swimming pool or water-treatment qualifications, but neither is essential.

    You

This employer's approach is simple: hire for character and train for the trade. They particularly value the qualities that many service leavers bring into civilian employment, including:

    - Reliability and punctuality.

    - High standards of personal presentation.

    - Pride in equipment, vehicles and the working environment.

    - Integrity and honesty.

    - Professional and respectful communication.

    - Resilience under pressure.

    - A calm and methodical approach to fault-finding.

    - Self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously.

    Training & Development

You don't need to know swimming pools before joining.

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive, hands-on specialist training covering swimming pool systems, plant rooms, equipment and water chemistry, enabling you to build on your existing electrical knowledge.

The aim is to develop you into a specialist engineer with skills that offer a stable and long-term civilian career.

    Package & Benefits

    - £35,000 – £40,000 salary, dependent on experience.

    - Fully funded specialist industry training.

    - Company vehicle and fuel card, including commuting.

    - Company mobile phone.

    - Tools supplied.

    - Full company uniform and PPE.

    - Monday-to-Friday working.

    - Flexible daily hours to be agreed with the successful candidate.

    - 25 days paid annual leave.*

    - Long-term career development within a growing and respected specialist engineering business.

*Due to seasonal operational requirements, annual leave cannot normally be taken during the peak setup period in April and May.

Why This Role Could Suit You

If you've spent your military career working with electrical systems, diagnosing faults, taking responsibility for equipment and getting the job done without needing constant supervision, many of the core skills required for this position will already be familiar.

What you may not know is SWIMMING POOLS that does not matter and that's the part they'll teach you.

For the right electrically qualified service leaver, this represents an opportunity to take an established technical skillset into a specialist sector where professionalism, independence and attention to detail are highly valued.
