How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

GMP Recruitment Agency Limited are proud to be partnered with the UK’s leading independent, family-owned business who specialise in food and drink distribution for wholesale customers, located in Tewkesbury.

We’re looking for a Warehouse Supervisor to join our team and play a key role in keeping the chilled warehouse and yard running smoothly.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead and support the warehouse team, making sure everyone knows what they’re doing, work is completed safely and stock is handled accurately and efficiently.

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in getting things right and isn’t afraid to get stuck in when things get busy. You’ll work closely with the Warehouse Manager, Production, Maintenance and Quality teams to keep everything running to a high standard.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    * Supervising, supporting and motivating the Chilled Warehouse and Yard teams.

    * Helping team members develop through day-to-day coaching, training and guidance.

    * Making sure the team is working safely and following company procedures, particularly around manual handling.

    * Planning and organising the team to make the best use of available staff and resources.

    * Keeping an eye on warehouse conditions and making sure equipment is working correctly.

    * Monitoring fridge doors and ensuring they are being used correctly to maintain the required temperature.

    * Making sure milk is stored at the correct temperature of 6°C.

    * Working with Management, Production, Maintenance and Quality to identify and resolve any problems or equipment issues.

    * Making sure paperwork, records and other documentation are completed accurately and kept up to date.

    * Ensuring stock is correctly rotated and that daily stock checks are completed.

    * Carrying out checks to make sure the correct products and quantities are being prepared for customers.

    * Ensuring customer tickets are correctly signed by Team Leaders and double-checked before dispatch.

    * Making sure customers receive a high-quality product that meets their expectations.

    * Helping maintain a clean, tidy and safe warehouse and yard, including work areas, drains, storage areas and waste.

    * Checking that refrigeration and cold-storage facilities on delivery vehicles are working correctly.

    * Getting involved with the loading and unloading of vehicles when required to help keep turnaround times on track.

    * Providing cover during staff breaks, holidays and sickness and being flexible when the needs of the warehouse change.

    * Supporting the Warehouse Manager and deputising for them during periods of absence.

    What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who can lead by example and bring a positive attitude to the team. You’ll need to be confident communicating with people at all levels and be comfortable making decisions when things get busy.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

    * Previous experience supervising or leading a team, preferably within a warehouse, logistics, food production or similar environment.

    * Strong communication and people-management skills.

    * The ability to motivate, support and get the best out of a team.

    * A good eye for detail and a strong focus on accuracy.

    * A positive, reliable and committed approach to work.

    * Good planning and organisational skills.

    * The ability to stay calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.

    * The flexibility to work different shift patterns and respond to changing operational requirements.

    * The ability to work to tight deadlines without compromising on safety or quality.

    * A hands-on approach and willingness to support the team when required.

    Desirable

    * A current Forklift Truck Licence and previous experience operating FLT equipment.

    * Previous experience working in a chilled warehouse or temperature-controlled environment.

No forklift licence? No problem. Training can be provided for the right person.

    The Person

This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their warehouse career or for an experienced Supervisor looking for a role where they can make a real difference.

You’ll be an important part of the day-to-day operation, helping to keep the team motivated, the warehouse organised and customers supplied with the quality products they expect.

If you’re organised, reliable, people-focused and enjoy being hands-on, we’d like to hear from you.
