How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Architectural Technologist / Building Surveyor

    £40,000 - £47,500 + Excellent Benefits + Agile Working + Bonus

Bristol | Hybrid Working | Outstanding Project Portfolio | Genuine Career Progression

Are you technically strong, confident with CAD and looking for more variety than a traditional design role?
This is an opportunity worth exploring.

We are representing one of the UK's most respected independent property and building consultancies as they continue to grow their Bristol team.

Our client is looking for an Architectural Technologist, Building Surveyor or technically focused construction professional who enjoys the design and detailing side of projects and wants to see their work progress from initial concept through to delivery.

You will join an established, highly regarded team working across an exceptional portfolio of buildings and projects, including work within Higher Education, healthcare, the Ministry of Justice and the wider public sector.

This is not a role where you will simply sit behind a screen producing drawings.

You will have the opportunity to become involved in projects from feasibility and design through to specification, tender and construction, working alongside experienced Building Surveyors, Project Managers and other property professionals.

    The Opportunity

Depending upon your experience, you will be involved in:
    • Producing technical drawings and coordinated design information using AutoCAD and Revit
    • Developing refurbishment, alteration and building improvement schemes
    • Preparing technical details, specifications and schedules of work
    • Supporting projects through feasibility, design and tender stages
    • Working with colleagues and clients to solve practical building and design challenges
    • Ensuring designs meet Building Regulations and other statutory requirements
    • Developing greater responsibility for projects as your experience grows

For someone who wants it, there is also the opportunity to take ownership of projects and develop broader project delivery experience, rather than remaining solely within a drawing or technical production role.

    Who Are We Looking For?

Your current job title is less important than your technical capability.
You could currently be working as an:
Architectural Technologist | Architectural Technician | Building Surveyor | Technical Designer
Ideally, you will have around three to five years' relevant experience and be comfortable producing good-quality technical drawings and construction information.
Experience of AutoCAD is important, while knowledge of Revit and BIM would be particularly valuable.
Most importantly, we are interested in people who understand how buildings are put together, enjoy solving technical problems and want to continue developing their careers.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

The quality of the employer is a major part of the attraction.
You will be joining a successful, well-structured and highly regarded consultancy with an excellent reputation across the built environment.

    In return, you can expect:
    •£40,000 - £47,500 salary
    • Excellent wider benefits package
    • Hybrid and agile working
    • Interesting and technically challenging projects
    • Exposure to major public-sector and institutional clients
    • Excellent professional development and CPD
    • Support from experienced senior professionals
    • Genuine opportunity to increase your responsibility and progress your career

This could particularly suit someone who enjoys the technical side of architecture or surveying but wants greater project exposure, more responsibility and a clearer long-term career path.

As part of the process, we would be interested in seeing examples of your previous technical or design work.

    Interested, but not actively looking?
    That's absolutely fine.

Some opportunities are worth a conversation before deciding whether you want to make a move.
Contact Russell Taylor Group for a confidential discussion to learn more about the consultancy, the team and the projects you could be working on.
