How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Production Controller
    Location: North West
    Salary: £33K - £37K
The Company: My Client is a B2 and Digital printing company based in the North West who are currently turning over 3 million and employ 32 people. The company has been a successful business for many years and understands frustrations people can have across the floor with production and support. This is why they take pride in providing a smooth production line, by recruiting skilled people who can ensure their quality is up there against competition.
    The Role:
    • Convert confirmed orders into practical production plans with the correct route, sequence, capacity, materials, outwork and delivery milestones.
    • Maintain a realistic schedule across pre-press, printing, finishing and despatch, resolving clashes and escalating capacity risks early.
    • Monitor live jobs, identify slippage or constraints and coordinate recovery actions while protecting quality, customer commitments and margin.
    • Review estimates, job specifications, selling prices and expected margins before release; challenge missing, inconsistent or commercially weak information.
    • Use Tharstern confidently for estimating and estimate review, job creation, production routes, purchasing, scheduling, job costing, WIP and management reporting.
    • Maintain accurate job statuses, dates, quantities, specifications, purchase orders and notes so that colleagues can rely on the system.
    • Control the efficient, profitable and on-time flow of print work from accepted order through production, despatch, job closure and invoicing readiness.
    • Protect commercial performance by ensuring production methods, costs, selling prices, materials, outwork and job data are accurate
    • Provide clear, reliable information to Sales, Client Services, Production, and senior management so that commitments are realistic and decisions are commercially sound
