How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor - Contract

    Central London
    £500-£550 per day (Outside IR35)
    Tier 1 MEP Contractor
    Long-Term Contract

    The Opportunity

    We are working with a major Tier 1 MEP contractor that is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor.

    The contractor has a significant workload across London, delivering complex building services packages on major commercial, data centre, healthcare and education projects.

    This position would suit a commercially strong M&E Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable taking ownership of sizeable packages and working closely with both the project delivery team and senior commercial management.

    The role is offered on a long-term contract basis at £500-£550 per day Outside IR35.

    The Role

    You will form a key part of the project commercial team, taking responsibility for the financial and contractual management of major mechanical and electrical packages.

    The position will involve working closely with Project Managers, operational teams, clients and the supply chain to maintain commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.

    You will be expected to understand the detail of your packages, challenge costs, manage change effectively and ensure the commercial position of the project is protected.

    Key Responsibilities

    Commercial management of significant M&E packages

    Manage subcontract packages from procurement and appointment through to final account

    Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts and CVRs

    Manage subcontractor applications, valuations and payments

    Identify, value and negotiate variations and changes

    Maintain accurate project forecasts and monitor cost against budget

    Manage commercial risks and identify opportunities to improve project performance

    Lead subcontractor negotiations and resolve commercial issues

    Manage contractual notices and ensure compliance with contract requirements

    Work closely with the project team to understand programme changes and their commercial impact

    Support procurement strategy and negotiate subcontractor packages

    Monitor cash flow and project financial performance

    Attend client, commercial and project progress meetings

    Prepare and negotiate final accounts

    Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners

    Provide commercial guidance to the wider project team

    Support junior Quantity Surveyors where required

    Candidate Profile

    We are looking for an experienced Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor who has operated within a major Building Services environment and is capable of independently managing substantial packages.

    You will need to be commercially astute, confident in negotiations and comfortable working within the processes and reporting structures associated with a Tier 1 contractor.

    Requirements

    Strong experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within M&E / Building Services

    Previous experience working for an MEP contractor is highly desirable

    Proven track record commercially managing large mechanical and/or electrical packages

    Experience across commercial, data centre, healthcare or education projects would be beneficial

    Strong subcontract procurement and package management experience

    Excellent knowledge of CVRs, forecasting, valuations and change management

    Good contractual knowledge with the ability to identify and manage commercial risk

    Strong negotiation and communication skills

    Comfortable operating in a client-facing environment

    Able to work independently while integrating closely with the wider project team

    Quantity Surveying or relevant construction qualification preferred
