How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role & About the Client
     
    ITS Building People are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Manager on behalf of an established contractor operating across Bournemouth and the wider South of England. The company delivers a diverse range of construction projects and has a strong reputation for quality delivery, technical excellence and a positive working culture. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Construction Manager looking to join a growing business with a clear, structured pathway through to Construction Director level.
     
    Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

    Managing the day-to-day delivery of construction projects from pre-start through to practical completion.
    Taking responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated projects.
    Managing project programmes, budgets and commercial performance.
    Coordinating Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist trades.
    Attending client and design team meetings.
    Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and consultants.
    Monitoring progress and ensuring projects remain on programme.
    Reviewing project costs, variations and financial performance.
    Assisting with procurement and subcontractor appointments.
    Reviewing scopes of work, specifications and drawings.
    Identifying potential construction issues and developing practical solutions.
    Managing variations and additional works.
    Ensuring projects are completed to the required specification and quality standards.
    Monitoring health and safety across projects.
    Managing defects and ensuring outstanding works are completed promptly.
    Overseeing project handover and completion documentation.
    Assisting with final accounts and commercial close-out.
    Providing regular updates to senior management on project progress, commercial performance and potential risks.
    Supporting senior leadership with business development and operational strategy, in preparation for progression into a Construction Director role.
    Mentoring and developing site management staff. The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Previous experience working as a Construction Manager, Senior Construction Manager or similar.
    Strong knowledge of construction projects within a main contracting environment.
    Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    Good commercial awareness and financial management skills.
    Experience managing subcontractors and specialist trades.
    Strong programme management skills.
    Excellent client and stakeholder management abilities.
    Good understanding of construction health and safety requirements, including SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold card) and First Aid at Work.
    Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
    Strong organisational and communication skills.
    A proactive approach to identifying and resolving project issues.
    Ability to work independently while effectively leading project teams.
    Degree qualified in a construction-related discipline (or equivalent experience) - CIOB membership desirable.
    Ambitious and commercially astute, with genuine aspirations to progress into a senior leadership role.
    Experience across the South of England or within regional contracting would be advantageous. How to Apply:
