How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor – Special Projects (MV/HV, BESS & Substations)
    Location: Hillington, Glasgow
    Salary: Competitive with car allowance
    Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
    Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

    We're looking for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Special Projects team in Glasgow. This is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to high-value energy projects while developing your commercial expertise alongside experienced industry leaders.

    The Role
    As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the commercial management of major energy infrastructure projects, helping to protect project margins, manage contractual requirements and drive commercial performance.
    Working closely with the Division Commercial Manager and wider project teams, you'll gain exposure to both post-contract and pre-contract activities, providing an excellent foundation for long-term career development.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Manage subcontract packages, including procurement support, valuations, payments and performance monitoring.
    * Identify, manage and assess variations and NEC Compensation Events.
    * Prepare and maintain cost reporting, CVRs, forecasts and commercial performance data.
    * Support cost control, value management and risk management activities across projects.
    * Assist with contractual claims, commercial negotiations and contract administration.
    * Provide commercial support for tenders, cost estimates and contract reviews.
    * Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
    * Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures and governance requirements.
    * Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote commercial best practice.
    About You
    Essential Requirements
    * Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
    * Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
    * Understanding of commercial management within construction, utilities, infrastructure or engineering projects.
    * Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems.
    * Full UK Driving Licence.
    Desirable Experience
    * Experience within power, utilities, substations, BESS, energy or infrastructure projects.
    * Familiarity with cost management and construction accounting software.
    * Experience supporting both pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities.
