How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Hillington, Glasgow
    Salary: Competitive
    Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

    We are looking for a commercially minded and technically capable Buyer to join our growing team.
    This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects by ensuring equipment, materials and subcontract services are sourced efficiently, competitively and on schedule.

    The Role
    As a Buyer, you will manage the procurement lifecycle from initial requisition through to supplier selection, purchase order placement, expediting, delivery and project close-out.
    Working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Commercial, Construction and Quality teams, you will ensure procurement activities support project objectives while maintaining compliance, quality, cost control and delivery performance.
    This is a highly collaborative role offering exposure to major infrastructure and engineering projects, where your ability to build supplier relationships, negotiate effectively and manage competing priorities will be key to success.
    As our Buyer you will:
    * Manage procurement activities across EPC projects, ensuring alignment with project programmes and business procedures.
    * Convert engineering requisitions into procurement packages and tender documents.
    * Prepare and issue RFQs, RFPs and supplier enquiries.
    * Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations from approved suppliers.
    * Support technical and commercial bid evaluations in collaboration with engineering teams.
    * Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, warranties, payment terms and contractual conditions.
    * Raise purchase orders and ensure compliance with procurement procedures.
    * Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials and technical documentation.
    * Ensure procured equipment and materials meet project specifications, regulatory requirements and client expectations.
    * Coordinate technical clarifications between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
    * Identify and assess new suppliers and support supplier qualification activities.
    * Expedite critical equipment and materials to ensure project milestones are achieved.
    * Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests (FATs) and logistics activities.
    * Monitor delivery schedules and proactively manage supply chain risks.
    * Support cost-saving initiatives through value engineering and strategic sourcing.
    * Maintain procurement records, reports and contract documentation.
    * Attend project meetings and provide procurement updates to key stakeholders.
    About You
    You will be an organised and proactive procurement professional with experience working in engineering, construction, utilities, renewables or industrial project environments.
    You will have strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple procurement activities while maintaining attention to detail.
    Essential Requirements
    * Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement or a related discipline.
    * Minimum three years' procurement experience within EPC, engineering, construction, utilities, renewable energy or industrial projects.
    * Experience procuring mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil materials and services.
    * Experience managing supplier relationships and performance.
    * Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
    * Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
    * Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
    * Full UK driving licence.
    It would be great if you had:
    * CIPS Level 4-6 qualification.
    * Engineering qualification or technical engineering background.
    * Knowledge of NEC or FIDIC contracts.
    * Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, energy or utility projects.
