How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Sales Director – Electronics Manufacturing

    Location: Remote, with regular UK travel
    Employment type: Permanent
    Reporting to: Group Sales Director

    Select Talent Group is delighted to be supporting a leading electronics manufacturing business in the appointment of a Sales Director.

    This is a senior, hands-on business development position focused on winning new customers and generating sustainable, profitable growth across the electronics manufacturing sector.

    The successful candidate will take ownership of identifying opportunities, opening doors and developing strategic customer relationships across markets including Medical, Aerospace & Defence, Industrial and Automotive.

    This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

    The opportunity

    The business provides end-to-end supply chain, electronics manufacturing and specialist component solutions to customers across the global technology market.

    Working closely with marketing, internal sales, engineering, production, quality and finance, the Sales Director will develop and convert a strong pipeline of new business opportunities across the group’s full range of technologies and services.

    Key responsibilities

    *

    Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand the customer base and deliver profitable growth.

    *

    Identify, create and manage new business opportunities across target markets.

    *

    Proactively engage prospective customers and build relationships with senior decision-makers.

    *

    Understand customers’ technical and commercial requirements and propose appropriate electronics manufacturing solutions.

    *

    Generate and convert a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.

    *

    Conduct market research to identify prospective customers, industry trends and competitor activity.

    *

    Develop pricing strategies, proposals and quotations for significant new business opportunities.

    *

    Negotiate commercial terms and secure profitable contracts.

    *

    Identify opportunities to cross-sell the group’s manufacturing, supply chain and specialist component capabilities.

    *

    Work collaboratively with marketing, internal sales, production, engineering, quality and finance.

    *

    Attend industry events, exhibitions and conferences to build the company’s network and market presence.

    *

    Maintain accurate customer, opportunity and activity information within the CRM.

    *

    Provide regular pipeline, sales and market reports to the senior management team.

    *

    Ensure all sales activity meets the company’s legal, ethical and commercial standards.

    About you

    You will be an established sales or business development professional with a strong network and proven record of winning new customers within electronics manufacturing.

    You should be able to demonstrate:

    *

    At least five years’ experience in new-business sales, negotiation or business development within electronics or manufacturing.

    *

    A strong understanding of PCB, PCBA or electronics manufacturing services.

    *

    Experience selling into one or more of the following markets:

    *

    Medical

    *

    Aerospace & Defence

    *

    Industrial

    *

    Automotive

    *

    A demonstrable record of developing opportunities, negotiating contracts and exceeding sales targets.

    *

    The ability to open doors, develop long-term customer relationships and secure profitable business.

    *

    Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of pricing, margins and contract negotiations.

    *

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    *

    The ability to work independently as a self-starter while collaborating effectively with internal teams.

    *

    Confidence using CRM systems and sales tools to manage pipelines and report activity.

    *

    A full UK driving licence.

    *

    The ability to travel regularly, with travel expected to account for approximately 75% of the role.

    *

    The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance at SC level.

    A degree in business, marketing, engineering or a related subject would be beneficial, although candidates with a strong technical background in electrical engineering, electronics or manufacturing are equally encouraged to apply.
