How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Engineer - Asset Integrity
    We are looking for Mechanical Engineer candidates to support a client based in Warrington - an industry leader in the field of asset integrity. They provide a diverse range of engineering technical services to many blue-chip companies across the UK and internationally, including oil and gas, chemical, waste-to-heat recovery, and nuclear.
    The successful applicant will join the Asset Integrity Division delivering a range of consultancy, products and services aimed at assessing and optimising the reliability of structural/mechanical assets, such as machines, machine baseplates, support structures, pipework, buildings, civil structures etc. to improve reliability and prevent premature failures. Traditionally such services are focused on avoiding the following conditions:
    High operational vibration / Fatigue damage caused by high operational stress (cracking) / Structural Resonance issues / Design issues due to lack of structural stiffness / Failure investigation and prevention / Quantification of operational loads (through on-site measurements)
    As such the role will typically involve heading out to a site to assess a reported failure or issue - collecting data using their highly sophisticated hardware - assessing the data and creating models to assist with this process, and then coming up with solutions.
    This is a highly varied and challenging roles, but interesting and rewarding where invariably no two assets are the same and so the client will be looking for intelligent, inquisitive, and methodical candidates. This is not a remote role as the team need to collaborate closely on all their work. Candidates will also need to be able to travel frequently and potentially at short notice when required - with the likelihood of offshore trips which can take 1-2 weeks as many of their clients' assets are stationed offshore.
    Mechanical Engineer (Asset Integrity) - Essential requirements
    * Full Driving Licence
    * Degree in a relevant engineering subject with broad mechanical engineering experience with supplementary practical skills.
    * Minimum 3-5 years specific practical experience - including providing commercial engineering consulting services to industry.
    * Capable of writing technical proposal and quotations.
    * Experience of ‘hands-on’ site work.
    * Broad mechanical engineering experience.
    * Practical mechanical engineering experience and good understanding of mechanical engineering.
    * Experience in the application and use of modern instrumentation and measurement techniques applied to structural or machinery monitoring applications.
    * Structural design, development and testing
    Salaries will be truly negotiable given the broad range of skills required but we anticipate a basic salary in the region of 50K per annum - with likely OTE earnings approaching 60K when offshore uplifts and overtime are included.
    This is a role where no two days are the same, providing interesting and challenging work in a truly collaborative team environment. If this interests and you have the right skills please get in touch for a further discussion about the role and how you might be suitable.
    You will need:
    * A good understanding of vibration and dynamic behaviour
    * A good understanding of metal fatigue failure mechanisms
    * Strong structural vibration knowledge
    * Instrumentation and data logging experience
    * Knowledge of data analysis and signal processing
    * Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
    * Technical reporting skills
    * Relevant experience in Nuclear, Chemical, or Oil and Gas industries is beneficial.
    Applicants who can demonstrate some of the following will be at an advantage
    * Knowledge of FEA (ANSYS)
    * Operating Deflection Shape Assessments
    * Process piping vibration assessment
    * Strain gauge installation and configuration
    * HBK Glyphworks, ME’Scope
    * Motion Amplification techniques
    * Knowledge of online monitoring systems
    * HMI-PLC programming experience
    * Basic CBM awareness
